New 2024 Porsche Taycan

The new Porsche Taycan aims to build on the success of the firm’s acclaimed electric car with more performance, more tech and more range.

The new Porsche Taycan now has up to 35% more battery range, with the longest-range version now travelling for more than 420 miles on a single charge.

The new Porsche Taycan is even faster as well – the fastest now offers 0-62mph performance in a barely-believable 2.4 seconds.

The new Porsche Taycan continues to be offered as a regular saloon, along with the versatile new Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo and the new Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo all-rounder.

The new Porsche Taycan’s 2024 enhancements mean it will provide an even sterner challenge to models such as the new BMW i5, the Mercedes-AMG EQE and, at the lower end, the Jaguar I-Pace. The upcoming new Audi A6 e-tron will be an interesting new rival too.

New 2024 Porsche Taycan: exterior and interior

The new Porsche Taycan has updated styling front and rear, with both headlights and rear lights given a refresh. The headlights are flatter, and a new design of front wing further emphasises them, giving the new Porsche Taycan a more purposeful appearance.

At night, the new Porsche Taycan’s headlights now display the trademark four-point Porsche light signature. HD matrix technology is standard. At the rear, the Porsche logo is illuminated as part of a 3D glass-look light strip.

The top new Porsche Taycan Turbo and Turbo S models now have great differentiation over other models. Features include a ‘Turbonite’ accent colour.

Inside, the new Porsche Taycan has an improved instrument cluster and central display. An optional passenger display is also available, which has a fresh user interface and extra functionality.

The new Porsche Taycan’s In-Car Video function allows video streaming on both the central display and the passenger display.

The new Porsche Taycan features more deeply integrated Apple CarPlay, which is now incorporated into more vehicle displays and functions.

All new Porsche Taycan now have a standard mode switch on the steering wheel. Models fitted with the optional Sport Chrono package and the Performance Battery Plus have a ‘push to pass’ button on the mode switch, for swift overtaking.

The new Porsche Taycan now has a control lever on the left behind the steering wheel. This gives more intuitive control of the driver assistance systems – including disabling them where necessary.

Other standard features for the new Porsche Taycan include ParkAssist with rear parking camera, heated front seats, wireless smartphone charging, dual electric charging ports on the driver and front passenger sides and an energy saving heat pump.

New 2024 Porsche Taycan: engines and performance

The new Porsche Taycan is available in four variants – Taycan, Taycan 4S, Taycan Turbo and Taycan Turbo S. The entry-level version has a single rear-drive motor, with all other models having twin-motor, all-wheel drive setups.

Performance is improved on all new Porsche Taycan. The entry-level 435PS new Porsche Taycan does 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds, which is 0.6 seconds faster than before.

The top-spec new Porsche Taycan Turbo S, which delivers up to a staggering 952PS, does 0-62mph in just 2.4 seconds, 0.4 seconds faster than before.

The new Porsche Taycan’s F1-style ‘push to pass’ button, which is part of the Sport Chrono option package, delivers up to an extra 96PS for 10 seconds.

New battery technology is a key feature of the 2024 Porsche Taycan. Depending on body variant and electric motor, the new Porsche Taycan has an improved range of up to 35%. The most efficient model now has a range of 421 miles on a single charge.

The top-spec new Porsche Taycan’s Performance Battery Plus is bigger, with a gross capacity of 105kW, up from 93kWh. Impressively, the larger battery is lighter too.

All new Porsche Taycan have faster rapid charging speeds of up to 320kW. This can charge the battery from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes, at a suitably powerful public rapid charger.

EV experts will be pleased to hear the new Porsche Taycan is able to maintain rapid charging speeds of more than 300kW for up to five minutes, even at low temperatures.

The new Porsche Taycan is also able to recuperate 30% more electricity when decelerating from high speeds. Lifting off the accelerator can generate up to 400kW of recuperation energy for the battery.

All new Porsche Taycan have adaptive air suspension as standard. An optional Porsche Active Ride suspension is available for all-wheel drive models. This impressive system helps keep the body level in corners.
