2025 Nissan Micra

Nissan has fully revealed the new, sixth-generation Nissan Micra.

Due for release late in 2025, the new all-electric city car promises a range of up to 253 miles on a single battery charge, and shares its underpinnings with the latest Renault 5.

The French-built Micra will come with a choice of two powertrains , and as well as the Renault, it'll be a rival for other small electric hatchbacks including the Fiat 500e and the Hyundai Inster.

The full reveal of the Micra follows the unveiling of the all-new Nissan Leaf – now an SUV – and the news that a new Nissan Juke is on the way, and that the Qashqai is getting a hybrid upgrade.

Little information has been yet revealed anbout the all-new Leaf, which moves from a hatchback bodystyle to that of an SUV. It'll share a mechanical platform with the larger Ariya and has a new, more aerodynamic shape. It'll be built in Nissan's Sunderland factory. We'll have to wait for any more details than that – no specs or features have been announced.

There are no pictures of the new Juke yet – all we know is that it's coming in 2026 and will be a pure EV, with a design based at least in part on the Hyper Punk concept car revealed in 2023.

Nissan has also announced an upgraded for its e-POWER hybrid system, which will first appear in the Qashqai. What those upgrades are in detail, we don't yet know, but Nissan says it'll bring improvements to emissions, efficiency and refinement.

New 2025 Nissan Micra: price and release date

The new Nissan Micra will go on sale at the end of 2025. No pricing has been confirmed, but seeing as it's closely related to the Renault 5, a similar price point would seem likely, which would mean a starting point of around £25,000.

No firm details for the other cars have been announced yet. We know that the new Leaf will appear for production this year, while next year will see the arrival of the new Juke.

New 2025 Nissan Micra: exterior and interior

The new Nissan Micra has a look that gives a big nod to the bubbly, cutesy K12-generation Micra of the 2000s, with big round LED running lights that encircle the main headlights. However, it also bears a strong resemblance to the Renault 5, with which it shares numerous components. All versions ride on 18-inch wheels – steel units on the entry-level model and alloys on the rest. The rear door handles are hidden in the C-pillar.

The inside, again, shares much with the Renault 5, with two 10-inch screens joined together atop the dashboard and the new NissanConnect infotainment system, which is very similar to Renault's setup. The boot measures 326 litres in capacity, which is pretty standard for this type of car. Drop the back seats and that rise to 1106 litres.

Very little information has been revealead about the new Leaf, but we can see from photos that it has a high, crossover-style ride height and a new look with the headlights joined across the front with a lightbar and an illuminated badge.

There's a charging port in the front-right and flush fitting doorhandles at the front. The back door handles are built into the C-pillar for a coupe-style look.

All we've seen of the Juke so far is a darkened image, which suggests it's been toned down considerably from the outlandish concept but will carry on the relatively daring design choices for which the first two versions of the car were notable. Again the rear door handles are hidden in the C-pillar, and there looks to be a new-look front end.

The new Micra shares much with the Renault 5, both inside and out.

New 2025 Nissan Micra: motors and batteries

Nissan has confirmed that the new Micra will get a choice of 40kWh and 52kWh batteries, the former with a 192-mile range and the latter managing up to 253 miles. The smaller battery comes with a 122PS motor with 225Nm of torque, while the larger battery sends its power to a 150PS motor with 245Nm. Performance figures haven't yet been revealed yet, although the power difference will be at least slightly offset by a 124kg weight penalty for the longer-range model.

The Micrao will have an 80kW DC charger on the 40kWh model and a 100kW charger on the 52kWh version. That means charging from 15% to 80% takes 30 minutes. A heat pump is standard, and both models will feature Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) tech, which lets you power external devices from a three-pin socket.

No details have been announced for the new Nissan Leaf's battery and motor combinations. As the Ariya shares a platform, it could be that we see the latter's 63kWh and 87kWh units made available, but we'll have to wait for more info.

We suspect that the motor and battery choices in the new Juke will mirror those of the forthcoming Renault 4, which which the Nissan shares a platform. That would suggest a choice of 40kWh and 52kWh batteries with a range of around 250 miles.
