SEAT is pulling the plug on its seven-seat SUV, the Tarraco.
Although SEAT says the Tarraco has been a success for the firm, production is now at an end after six years and no successor is planned. Instead, its place will be taken by the forthcoming Cupra Terramar, a hybrid SUV from Seat’s sister brand.
The Tarraco was a rival to other seven-seat cars like the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace and the Skoda Kodiaq, but with the new Terramar arriving next year, Seat felt there was no place for it.
What is the Cupra Terramar?
The Terramar will be the final Cupra with a combustion engine as the brand moves toward an electric-only line-up by 2023.
We don’t yet know a huge amount about it, but we know it’s a large SUV, slightly smaller than the Tarraco, and will be powered by mild-hybrid combustion engines as well as a plug-in hybrid model with an electric-only range of more than 60 miles.
Production of the Terramar will start in Hungary later this year.
