Although the car you see in these pictures is officially a concept car, it forms the basis for a production high-performance Genesis car that will arrive next year.
The Genesis GV60 Magma Concept was shown off at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Cars with the Magma badge represent the sportiest models in the Genesis line-up, and Magma variants are planned across the vehicle range.
The Magma programme was announced in March, and a larger, all-electric G80 EV Magma Concept was also run at Goodwood.
The Genesis GV60 Magma will be the first production model with the new badge. Genesis plans to start building it in the third quarter of 2025, and it’ll be a rival for cars like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and the Kia EV6 GT.
New 2025 Genesis GV60 Magma: price and release date
We haven’t even seen the production version of the Genesis GV60 Magma yet, so pricing and other specification details are some way off. However, Genesis says we can expect to see it arrive in the UK towards the end of 2025.
New 2025 Genesis GV60 Magma: exterior and interior
Once again, we’ve only seen the conception of the Genesis GV60 Magma, but as concept cars go it looks pretty close to production spec. The vibe, unsurprisingly, is the standard GV60 but sportier – big alloy wheels., lowered suspension and more aggressive bodywork design. Expect the brakes to be bigger, too. The concept boasts a sizable rear wing on the tailgate and roof fins – we’ll have to wait to see if that carries over to the production version.
No photos have been released of the GV60 Magma’s interior, but an educated guess would say it’ll be based on the standard GV60 but with sporty touches, perhaps with more hugging sports seats and a sportier-looking steering wheel.
Genesis also says that the car will have “an authentic, Magma-exclusive sound system that will provide a rich, dynamic auditory experience that further boosts the excitement of the ride”. That sounds fairly similar to the system in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, which makes synthesised noise when accelerating.
New 2025 Genesis GV60 Magma: engines and gearboxes
With no details about the Genesis GV60 Magma’s powertrain yet released, we can only speculate.
Looking at the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N (Hyundai being the parent company of Genesis) suggests that a dual electric motor setup with around 600PS seems likely, together with an upgraded battery and all-wheel drive.
For reference, the standard GV60 Performance model has AWD and makes up to 490PS.
