But competition is good news for buyers, as that means there are plenty of finance deals out there on new Volkswagens to encourage you to snap up a Golf, Tiguan or electric ID model. Volkswagen usually offers generous deposit contributions on its Solutions PCP products right across the range, so from Polo to ID.Buzz there's a discount waiting for you.
Depending on the model, VW also offers varying contributions based on how far up the trim level range you go, so it's always worth seeing if your deal on a car in entry-level Life trim could be bettered by one on a R-Line or Black Edition model.
With deposit contributions across the range, there should be a deal on your chosen car. However, if you're willing to be flexible there could be extra value to add in to your chosen PCP. As core parts of Volkswagen's line-up, and often high in the sales charts as a result, deals on the Volkswagen Polo and Volkswagen Golf are often generous to keep them rolling out of dealerships.
If following the SUV trend leaves you cold, there are solid deals on the all-new VW Passat. It's estate only and features significant help towards your deposit because it isn't as desirable as a VW Tiguan or VW Tayron.
And if you’re looking to go electric, the VW ID.3 is much improved, plus the new VW ID.7, available as saloon and estate, are worth a look, especially with 0% APR and solid deposit contributions in the offing.
The VW ID.4 and VW ID.5 are due significant mid-life updates, so extra discounts are available to shift remaining stocks in preparation for the new cars appearing at dealers, while there's even money off the VW ID.Buzz.
Never has the gap between the Volkswagen Polo and VW Golf been closer in terms of the way the smaller car borrows big-car tech, comfort and even space from its big brother. The Polo is one of the best small hatchbacks in its class, and might make you think twice about a Golf come new-car day.
There are currently three different PCP deals available on the Polo depending on the trim level. We've chosen an entry-level Polo Life, which comes with a £1400 deposit contribution on a four-year deal. Upgrade to a near-top of the range R-Line and you get £1900 towards your deposit, making monthly payments start around £292. This deal includes Black Edition and Edition 50 models, too. Go for a Polo GTI and the deposit contribution rises to £2650, but so does the monthly, to £349. Customer deposits rise accordingly, too.
The Volkswagen Taigo is a coupe-SUV version of the Volkswagen T-Cross. Its still spacious in the back and in the boot, despite its swoopy roof, should cost very little to run and could turn heads of people in the market for a Nissan Juke or Ford Puma.
There are two PCP deals available on the Taigo depending on trim level. The entry-level Taigo Life comes with a £1400 deposit contribution on a four-year deal. Upgrade to a mid-spec Style, or top of the range R-Line or Black Edition trims and you get £1900 towards your deposit, making monthly payments start around £357. Both deals have the same 7.9% APR but the latter offer requires a higher customer deposit.
The Volkswagen T-Cross is worth a look if you're in the market for a small family SUV that's comfortable to drive and cheap to run. Thanks to a facelift in 2023, the T-Roc's interior now gets digital dials and a larger infotainment screen.
The entry-level T-Cross Life comes with a £1400 deposit contribution over 48 months with VW Solutions PCP. Upgrade to a mid-spec Style, or top of the range R-Line or Black Edition trims and you get £1900 towards your deposit, with monthly payments starting at around £344. Both deals have the same 7.9% APR but the latter offer requires a £550 higher customer deposit.
The Volkswagen Golf has a reputation as the default choice of family car that stretches back decades. The latest model has more competition than ever, yet it remains one of the best cars in its class, especially now a recent update has made its infotainment system more user friendly.
There's a £3000 deposit contribution on the entry-level Golf Life model on a 48-month PCP deal, rising to £3750 if you opt for a Golf in Match, Style or GTE trim.
The Volkswagen T-Roc has been around for a while now, but we think it's still one of the best small SUVs you can buy. Back in 2022, Volkswagen gave the car a facelift, giving the T-Roc a nicer interior and fresher exterior, and helping it remain well on terms with rivals like the Ford Puma or Toyota Yaris Cross.
There's a £2500 deposit contribution on the entry-level T-Roc Life model on a 48-month PCP deal at 6.9% APR, rising to £3000 with the same APR if you opt for a T-Roc Style Design, Style, R-Line, Black Edition Plus, Black Edition, R or R Black Edition model.
The Volkswagen Tiguan isn't just a top seller in the UK, it's VW's best-selling car worldwide. So a new version has a pretty large reputation to uphold. The latest Tiguan evolves the successful recipe, blending space and comfort, a decent drive and plenty of standard kit.
The new car is off to a great start, maintaining the Tiguan name in the top 10 best-seller list, with more success likely as buyers upgrade to the new model. There's £1850 deposit contributions across the range, and this deal is for a Tiguan in entry-level Life trim.
The Volkswagen Tayron replaces the seven-seater Tiguan Allspace. In separating the Tayron into its own model line, you get a bit more choice in terms of engines and interior layouts, ensuring your big family SUV meets your growing family's needs. The Tayron feels more upmarket and sophisticated than the car it replaces, too.
Despite being a relatively new model, there's a £1500 deposit contribution on the Life model, which grows to £3250 for Match, Elegance, R-Line, R-Line Edition models. All deals are 7.9% APR over four years.
It would have been a shame but fair enough if a new Volkswagen Passat generation hadn't arrived, given just how popular SUVs are and how traditional estate cars really aren't. However, the new estate-only Passat has returned to fight again, and remains a fantastically practical choice of family transport that drives better and should cost less to run than a Tiguan, too.
There are two healthy deposit contribution options available on the Passat range. This deal is for a Passat in entry-level Life trim that get £4750 towards your deposit. Upgrade to an Elegance or R-Line model and you get an extra £1000 off, although the customer deposit would also climb accordingly.
The Volkswagen ID.3 felt like it was a slightly rushed product when it first arrived. However, design tweaks and improved software are welcome recent updates, while the relaxing drive and long electric range remain.
Volkswagen has two PCP offers on the ID.3, either a three-year deal with 0% APR and a £2500 deposit contribution, or a 6.9% deal over four years with £6000 towards your deposit.
If you're looking for an EV to be your household's only car, you could do worse than the Volkswagen ID.4. Its 349-mile range is plenty for all life's big trips, while the interior is spacious and the ride is comfortable.
VW offers two deals on the ID.4. We're featuring the ID.4 Match with 0% APR over 36 months, while there also a 48-month deal at 6.9% APR with a smaller customer deposit, £415 monthly payments and a £7000 deposit contribution.
If you find the Volkswagen ID.4 a bit straight laced, but still fancy the idea of going electric with relatively few compromises, the Volkswagen ID.5 could be the car you're looking for. It's comfortable, spacious and very well equipped for the cash.
VW offers two deals on the ID.5. We're featuring the ID.4 Match with 0% APR over 36 months, while there also a 48-month deal at 6.9% APR with a smaller customer deposit, £443 monthly payments and a £7000 deposit contribution.
It feels like we've been waiting an age for the Volkswagen ID.Buzz, and now it's finally here as a modern take on the iconic hippy bus. It's an electric people carrier that's much more desirable for carting around a family than anything either MPV or SUV shaped, and your kids will love it.
There are five, six and seven-seat versions of the ID.Buzz available, and we've picked an offer on the more practical 7-Seat model in mid-range Style trim to get more nice-to-have luxuries for all the family. Whichever model you choose, there's a relatively low 2.9% APR and £5000 towards your deposit on a 48-month PCP.
The Volkswagen Touareg has been around since 2018 in its current generation, offering buyers a big, brash SUV with a superb interior and punchy petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid engines. A minor update in 2023 means it still looks fresh today. It's a pricey option, but a very accomplished one.
There's just one offer on the Touareg, a solid £8500 deposit contribution across the range on a four-year PCP deal at 7.9% APR.
VW's PCP offering is quite simple, but requires a few steps before you get behind the wheel. The first is to decide how much deposit you will put down. This can be anything from £0 to 50% of the value of the car, and this can be made up of cash and/or money from the part-exchange of your current car.
Next up you need to choose how long you want your PCP term to be, from 18-49 months, and how many miles you plan to cover each year. Don't forget that if you exceed your mileage allowance you'll be charged extra, and any damage beyond fair wear and tear will incur another bill.
Volkswagen tends to offer PCP deals right across its range of cars. However, 0% finance tends to be reserved for its range of electric cars. VW tends to offer both a 0% and a longer-term deal at a higher APR, but with a higher deposit contribution, so check which one will cost you more based on your circumstances before opting for one deal over another.
As ever, this is subject to change as carmakers adjust their stocks according to demand, so check back here regularly for the latest deals.
Personal Contract Purchase, or PCP for short, is the way that most new cars hit the road in the UK. The main benefit of a PCP is that you have flexibility. Don't like the car? Then simply hand it back at the end of your term. Fancy something new? Then trade up with a new PCP deal. Really like the car? Pay the balloon payment and it's yours.
It's worth being honest with yourself when you're considering car finance. If you're using PCP to be flexible with no intention of owning the car, leasing can be cheaper per month. Likewise, if you want to own the car outright, a bank loan or Hire Purchase agreement could save you money in the long run.
Just like car brands Audi, Skoda and Volkswagen, VW Financial Services is part of the Volkswagen Group, and provides the financing for Volkswagen when you set up a finance deal through a VW dealer. VWFS offers PCP, or Volkswagen Solutions Personal Contract Plan to give it its full name.
There's also contract hire with fixed monthly rentals and you just return the car at the end, or Hire Purchase, which involves larger monthly payments but you own the car at the end of the deal.
If you have no interest in owning the car after your deal term finishes, leasing directly from Volkswagen is very straightforward. Personal Contract Hire agreements are arranged with VW Financial Services, and the VW models currently available for lease are available to browse on the VWFS Drive website.
Arranging a finance deal is as simple as finding a VW model that suits you, get a quote, set up your finance agreement and then your chosen new VW will be delivered to your nearest VW dealership. All the cars VW offers for lease are already built and in stock, which means delivery can take place quickly and conveniently.
