Lexus is the UK's most reliable car brand, say owners

Lexus is the most reliable car brand in the UK, according to the results of the 2025 Honest John Satisfaction Index.

The consumer website asks its readers each year to rate their car across a variety of criteria, including efficiency, reliability, practicality and safety, as well as performance and criteria. The results are then collated to create the Satisfaction Index.

With a very impressive reader rating of 97.01%, Lexus emerged as the best car brand for reliability in 2025, ahead of Tesla, which scored 95.29%. Toyota – Lexus's parent brand – was third with 94.65%, while Honda was fifth with 94.31%. Rounding up the top five, Skoda scored 93.08%.

Lexus also secured the title for the most reliable car overall with the NX.

Brands faring less well included Alfa Romeo, sitting at the bottom of the reliability rankings with a score of 76.67%, just behind Jeep (82.31%) and Vauxhall (84.53%), which also took the dubious honours of the UK's least reliable car with the Corsa.

The best overall score for car ownership went to Tesla, with an overall approval score of 89.41%, nudging Lexus into second place with 86.32%. Third was Porsche with an overall satisfaction rating of 84.79%, while Honda was fourth (84.70%) and Skoda scoring another top five with 54.51%.

Alfa Romeo was last once again, with an overall satisfaction rating of 72.12%, just behind Fiat with 73.58% and Vauxhall with 76.11%. MG was fourth from bottom with 77.29%.

What other brands were recognised in the Honest John Satisfaction Index?

The Index covers more than just cars – GEM Motoring Assist scored top ranking for breakdown cover providers with 87% of respondents saying they would renew with the company, for an overall satisfaction rating of 89.57%.

Meanwhile NFU Mutual was named the best car insurance company for the sixth year running, with a satisfaction score of 87.48%.
