Volkswagen Approved Used Cars for Sale

  • Find an Approved Used Volkswagen

  • Approved Used explained

  • What benefits are included?

The Volkswagen Approved Used car programme, previously called Das Welt, is designed to give those buying a used Volkswagen the same service and experience as if you were purchasing a brand new car.

Available through Volkswagen franchised dealers, all Volkswagen Approved Used cars have to go through thorough checks before they are sold. So whether you're after a used Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen Tiguan or a Volkswagen ID.3, there are a host of benefits you get from choosing an Approved Used car from Volkswagen.

Benefits of a Volkswagen Approved Used car

  • Each car with up to 100,000 miles on the clock comes with a minimum two-year Volkswagen Warranty
  • 142-point inspection by VW-trained technicians
  • Minium two-year MOT cover
  • Minimum two-year Roadside Assistance cover
  • Test-drive inspection of every car
  • Only Volkswagen Genuine Parts used

What warranty do Volkswagen Approved Used cars come with?

Volkswagen Approved Used cars come with at least a two-year Volkswagen Warranty (for cars with up to 100,000 miles). Volkswagen says the Approved Used Warranty All Component cover has been designed to help protect against the costs incurred in the event of an electrical or mechanical failure of a covered component.

Is there MOT cover with Approved Used Volkswagens?

Yes, Volkswagen Approved Used cars come with up to two years MOT Cover, valid for vehicles up to 100,000 miles at the point of activation.

Is there an inspection with Approved Used Volkswagens?

There's a 142-point inspection carried out by Volkswagen trained technicians plus a test drive inspection of every used car before it can become an Approved Used car. Any faults identified are fixed using Volkswagen Genuine Parts.

Do Volkswagen Approved Used cars come with a history check?

Yes. Volkswagen will check the vehicle identity and match it with the DVLA registration as well as verifying that there are no outstanding finance arrangements on the car and that the mileage is correct. You will also get a certificate that details the car’s entire Approved Used retailer network history, for example routine servicing work. It also verifies the cars identity and status of the warranty.

Is there an exchange policy with Approved Used Volkswagens?

Volkswagen offers a 30-day or 1000-mile 'no quibble' exchange policy. So if for any reason, you want to change the car - maybe you have second thoughts or it doesn't fit in your garage  - you should be able to exchange it for another of the same price (or higher, with you paying the difference). That is as long as the vehicle is returned in the same condition as when it was collected and the retailer you bought your car from has an available vehicle in their stock.

Are there any extras included with Volkswagen Approved Used cars?

All Volkswagen Approved Used cars come with a minimum of two years' Volkswagen Roadside Assistance, which includes breakdown and recovery services at home or on the roadside, in the UK and Europe, with no limit on call outs. There is also five days' complimentary Volkswagen insurance.

Which used Volkswagen car is right for me?

Volkswagen’s broad range begins with the Up city car, a classy and appealing machine for its size and also available with an electric drivetrain. The Polo is a high-quality small hatch with a spacious cabin and lots of big car features, while the iconic Golf remains the most desirable compact hatchback. For a more retro look, check out the Beetle. The Passat is a comfortable and sophisticated saloon and estate, with the Arteon spin-off model bringing coupe style and four-door practicality. Volkswagen’s SUV lineup includes the compact and attractive T-Cross and T-Roc alongside the large and luxurious Touareg and Tiguan and has MPVs in the shape of the Golf SV, Touran and larger Sharan. Volkswagen also stocks a range of electric vehicles, from the e-Up city car and ID.3 and e-Golf hatchbacks to the larger ID.4 and ID.5 SUVs.

Tell me something I don’t know about Volkswagen

One part of the original Beetle remained unchanged throughout its 65-year production life: a clamping strip along the leading edge of the bonnet.

What used Volkswagen models are for sale on heycar?

You're spoilt for choice with every type of modern Volkswagen listed for sale, including:

That's a big question and it comes down to what you want. A Golf R hot hatchback may be great fun but won't suit everyone. That said, the Golf is a brilliant hatch and one we rate very highly. Family buyers may prefer the bigger T-Roc or better still, the Tiguan, while if it's EV power you want, Volkswagen has several to choose from including ID.3 hatchback and ID.4 SUV.

Volkswagen has traditionally had a reputation for reliability and strong build, although issues with its DSG automatic gearboxes in recent years have done it few favours. However, generally, Volkswagen engines are built to last. In satisfaction surveys, most Volkswagen models rate higher than average for reliability.

Volkswagen started out as the car of the people – Volkswagen meaning 'people's car' – and it has always been a mainstream rather than luxury brand, albeit a very good one. It has made luxury cars in the past such as the Phaeton, while many of its top models such as the Arteon and Touareg, have a luxury feel to them.
