The new Fiat 600 Hybrid is a petrol-powered alternative to the recently-revealed new Fiat 600e electric small SUV.
The range was initially set to be electric-only, but the launch of the new Fiat 600 Hybrid is in response to customer demand.
It also means the new Fiat 600 Hybrid can take on a broad range of rivals including the Nissan Juke, Volkswagen T-Cross, Vauxhall Mokka, Ford Puma, Renault Captur and many others.
The new Fiat 600 Hybrid is open for ordering now, with UK deliveries beginning in the summer.
How much is the new Fiat 600 Hybrid?
The new Fiat 600 Hybrid costs from £23,695. This is over £9000 less than the entry-level Fiat 600e Red version.
The new Fiat 600 Hybrid is also available in a more upmarket La Prima spec, for £26,965. This price is more than £10,000 cheaper than the top-spec Fiat 600e La Prima.
This significantly enhanced affordability is going to be a key part of the new Fiat 600 Hybrid's appeal.
The new Fiat 600 Hybrid is available with a range of paint colours, including red at no extra cost. The new Fiat 600 Hybrid La Prima offers Sun of Italy orange as a no-cost option.
The new Fiat 600 Hybrid comes as standard with 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, heated front seats and Fiat black and ivory bi-colour fabric seats.
The new Fiat 600 Hybrid La Prima has 18-inch alloys, eco leather seats, wireless smartphone charging and a massage driver’s seat.
New Fiat 600 Hybrid: performance and economy
The new Fiat 600 Hybrid has a 1.2-litre turbo petrol three-cylinder engine, that produces 100PS.
It comes with a 48V mild hybrid system as standard. This sees an electric motor integrated into the six-speed automatic gearbox, allowing the engine to be fully detached from the transmission and shut down.
The clever system will switch to fully electric mode automatically at low speed. Because it’s a ‘self-charging’ hybrid setup, it doesn’t need to be plugged in, either.
The new Fiat 600 Hybrid is impressively economical as a result. It averages 57.6mpg and emits from 109g/km CO2.
It will offer 0-62mph performance in around 11.0 seconds.
The new Fiat 600 Hybrid uses a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine. It features a 48V mild hybrid system to boost efficiency.
Fiat says that the 48V mild hybrid system allows it to drive in fully electric mode at low speeds.
