Citroen Ami gets a 2CV-inspired makeover

Citroen has given its dinky electric car, the Ami, a facelift for 2025.

The Citroen Ami, which was first revelaed 2020, is technically a quadricycle rather than a car, but it's been popular as a very affordable all-electric city car. Now, at this month's Paris Motor Show, Citroen has drawn back the covers on the new-look Ami. It takes inspiration from both the 2022 Citroen Oli concept car and also from the classic 2CV.

Compared to the existing Ami, the new car has a simpler look with moved back headlights – now with black surrounds that Citroen says look like eyelids – and more pronounced wheel arches. As before, the back is identical to the front save for the colour of the lights. The wings have slots in them, just like the classic 2CV of yesteryear.

Nothing has changed under the surface of this little electric car – the Ami still has a range of up to 46 miles on a full battery charge, and its 8PS electric motor gives it a top speed of 28mph.

New 2025 Citroen Ami: price and release date

No prices for the new Citroen Ami have been revealed, but it'll go on sale in 2025.
