Skoda has added a plug-in hybrid model to its popular Kodiaq range, giving customers up to 75 miles of electric range per battery charge.

We’ve been very impressed with the latest Kodiaq, as you can read in our review. The addition of the Kodiaq iV model only adds to its appeal, and it’s available to order now, with prices starting at £41,935.

This is the first time there’s been a plug-in hybrid Kodiaq, and it uses the same technology found in the Octavia iV. The engine is a petrol-powered 1.5-litre TSI unit with 150PS, mated to a 116PS electric motor. Combined, they deliver up to 204PS and 350Nm, with a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox shifting automatically.

Only five-seat models are available, unlike the rest of the Kodiaq range which can be specced with seven seats. The Kodiaq iV is likely to appeal particularly to fleet drivers, with a Benefit in Kind tax rate of 5%.

The Kodiaq is a rival for cars like the SEAT Tarraco, Peugeot 5008, Kia Sorento and many more.

As with all PHEVs, the Kodiaq iV can use electric or petrol power only, or both at the same time. According to official figures the SE model can travel for up to 75 miles on electric power only.

There are three hybrid modes. The E-mode uses electric power only, while Hybrid mode uses both engine and electric motor, acting like a full hybrid when driving for longer distances. Sport mode uses the maximum possible power of both engine and electric motor to focus on performance.

Fast charging tech is included, which means the Kodiaq iV is the first Skoda PHEV that can accept a DC rapid charge at speeds up to 50kW. That means the battery can be refilled from 10% to 80% in around 26 minutes using a suitable charger. A CCS socket is included for fast charging, and the Kodiaq iV can also be charged on an AC supply using a standard Type 2 plug at up to 11kW.

2024 Skoda Kodiaq iV trim levels

There are two trim levels available on the Skoda Kodiaq iV – SE and SE L. The SE rides on 18-inch alloy wheels with LED front and rear lights, heated front seats and keyless entry and start included as standard. A 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system is included, as is a 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit, which is Skoda’s name for its digital driver’s display, replacing traditional dials. Three-zone climate control is also bundled in, along with a range of safety systems including blind-spot detection and Front Cross Traffic Assist.

The SE L model starts from £44,635 and adds some upgrades over the SE. These include 19-inch alloy wheels, matrix LED headlights with a cornering function, and synthetic and real leather upholstery inside. The driver’s seat is electrically adjustable and has a memory function, and the boot opens electrically, too.

The iV badge is added to Skoda models that can be plugged in to top up the battery. You can find it on pure electric models, such as the Enyaq iV, and plug-in hybrids like the Kodiaq iV, Superb iV and the Octavia iV.

According to official figures, the Skoda Kodiaq iV's battery gives it an electric-only range of up to 75 miles, based on the SE model.

While the standard Kodiaq iV is available with sevent seats, the Kodiaq iV is available only as a five-seater.
