The new Vauxhall Mokka Electric Griffin has become one of Britain’s cheapest electric SUVs as the firm cuts more than £7000 from its price.

New Vauxhall Mokka Electric Griffin prices start from just £29,495, which is £7115 less than the previous entry-level Design variant.

The special edition Vauxhall Mokka Electric Griffin still has a good level of standard equipment, though – indeed, the spec is actually better than the Design model. It shares the same punchy 136PS electric motor as the Design as well.

Ordering for the new Vauxhall Mokka Electric Griffin opens on 17 April, with first deliveries expected in June 2024.

The new Vauxhall Mokka Electric Griffin is a very modern and distinctive-looking car – with the added appeal of contrast black roof and free metallic paint.

What do you get as standard with the new Vauxhall Mokka Electric Griffin?

The new Vauxhall Mokka Electric Griffin has even more features than the Design version it’s based on. A contrast black roof, tinted rear windows and 17-inch alloy wheels are all standard.

Customers can also choose the full Mokka exterior colour palette, including metallic paint, at no extra cost. This saves £700.

Inside, the new Vauxhall Mokka Electric Griffin adds a flat-bottom leather-effect steering wheel, along with a panoramic rear-view camera and rear parking sensors.

Other features included as standard in the new Vauxhall Mokka Electric Griffin include a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster and 7.0-inch centre touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This includes Vauxhall Connect, that allows drivers to remotely schedule charging and pre-condition the cabin temperature.

Heated front seats and steering wheel are standard, as is automatic climate control, keyless start, LED lights and a brace of driver assistance tech.

The new Vauxhall Mokka Electric Griffin has a 209-mile range and can charge from 0-80% at a public DC rapid charger in just 30 minutes.

What is the EV range of the new Vauxhall Mokka Electric Griffin?

The new Vauxhall Mokka Electric Griffin comes with a 50kWh battery. This means it has an official EV range of 209 miles.

Charging on the move is quick, as it is able to use 100kW DC rapid chargers. This means a public charge from 0-80% takes just 30 minutes.

If you charge at home, a 0-100% charge using a 7kW domestic wallbox will take 7 hours 30 minutes.

All new electric Vauxhall customers get a free Octopus Electroverse card. This gives them access to more than 650k public chargers, from multiple networks across the UK and Europe, through a single account.

And if that’s still not enough, all new electric Vauxhall customers get one year’s free charging credit at Tesco stores across the country. The free charging is available through the Pod Point app.

The new Vauxhall Mokka Electric Griffin competes with the Mazda MX-30 BEV, the Peugeot e-2008, the Jeep Avenger and Kia Niro EV. The Honda e:Ny1 is also a rival – albeit one that, despite recent price cuts, still costs over £10,000 more.

If you want to pay even less for a new Vauxhall EV, the new Vauxhall Corsa Electric Yes Edition costs just £26,895.

For reassurance, the new Vauxhall Mokka Electric Griffin has an eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty on its battery. It also comes with three years of roadside assistance, as part of the Vauxhall Plug & Go offer.
