2024 Kia Picanto

The new Kia Picanto is a facelifted version of the popular city car, which Kia aims to become an even more pivotal model in a sector its rivals are leaving.

Already, the Kia Picanto accounts for more than 1 in 5 new city car sales, with volumes up 35% in 2023. With the heavily-updated new Kia Picanto, the aim is for that advantage to grow further.

Affordability is on the new Kia Picanto’s side, with prices starting from just £15,595. Indeed, every single new Kia Picanto variant costs less than £20,000.

The new Kia Picanto faces ever-fewer rivals, with key alternatives being the Hyundai i10, Suzuki Ignis and Toyota Aygo X. The new Dacia Spring is an interesting new electric city car coming soon, while the Dacia Sandero offers affordability in a bigger, less city-friendly package.

Other new superminis priced at under £20,000 include the new MG3 and new Suzuki Swift.

What’s new with the facelifted Kia Picanto?

The new Kia Picanto, which is the firm’s fourth best-selling car here in the UK, has all-new vertical headlights that ape the look of the range-topping Kia EV9. They are connected by a light bar that blends into the front air intakes, for a more assertive appearance.

The new Kia Picanto has some fresh colours, plus standard alloy wheels that measure 14-inches on the base car, and 16-inches on other grades.

Inside, the new Kia Picanto comes with an improved standard specification that includes an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and free seven-year Kia Connect.

Other standard equipment in all new Kia Picanto includes rear parking sensors and a reversing camera, cruise control, electric front and rear windows, air conditioning, automatic wipers and forward collision alert.

The new Kia Picanto GT-Line has sporty GT-Line extras outside and in, while the ‘3’ gets more equipment including climate control air con. The range-topping new Kia Picanto GT-Line S features customisable ambient lighting, a tilt-slide sunroof, blind spot warning and an improved forward collision assist system.

The new Kia Picanto also comes in stylish GT-Line spec, with prices from £16,745, and a new Kia Picanto ‘3’ which costs from £17,545. They all use the same 62PS 1.0-litre engine.
