Omoda has give its compact SUV, the Omoda 5, an overhaul less than a year after it went on sale.

The Chinese manufacturer received lukewarm reviews for the Omoda 5 – its first entry into the UK market  – and will hope that the substantial overhauls both inside and out will improve its standing, as well as that of its electric version, the Omoda E5.

In a packed market that includes such favourites as the Kia Sportage, the Nissan Qashqai, the Peugeot 3008 and many more, having a competitive product is essential. The changes include 19-inch wheels as standard and revisions to the car's ride and handling, while isnide the boot space has been expanded by ditching the spare wheel, material quality has been increased and new infotainment screens have been installed. The level of standard specification across the two trim levels has also been improved.

The electric model has a new battery with an expanded range of up to 267 miles and faster charging capability, and the same interior as the petrol model. All models come with an impressive seven-year, 100,000-mile warranty.
