Facelift for Kia Sportage SUV

2025 Kia Sportage

Kia has unveiled an updated version of its Sportage SUV, and it should be winging its way to the UK in 2025.

Revealed at the Los Angeles Motor Show, the revised Kia Sportage has exterior and interior tweaks to keep it fresh against the competition, and a revised hybrid power option, too. It's the first overhaul since the latest Sportage was launched in 2021, and Kia hopes it will keep the Sportage competitive against the likes of the Ford Kuga, Hyundai Tucson and Toyota RAV4.

While the car you see here is an American-spec version, the UK cars should be very similar. We should see it in a more UK-focused spec towards the middle of next year.

New 2025 Kia Sportage: price and release date

The new Kia Sportage has only just been revealed, and there's no information on UK pricing or spec as yet. We'd expect the starting price to go up a bit from the existing model, which starts at £29,390. We should find out more information, including specification and an exact release date, later in 2025.

The new Kia Sportage is fundamentally the same car that we've had since 2021, but with upgrades. The new daytime running lights mirror those found on recent Kias like the EV9, Sorento and EV3, and there's a new set of verticle headlights and a new grille and bumper. The alloy wheel designs have been updated, as have the side skirts.

Inside, all models now get the 12.3-inch curved infotainment screens that were previously only available in higher-spec Sportages, and there are minor tweaks to the dashboard design with repositioned air vents. A new steering wheel has been introduced, taken from the EV3.

All models of Sportage now get two 12.3-inch displays as standard.

Full details of the UK Sportage lineup have yet to be confirmed, but we do know that the current entry-level 1.6-litre mild-hybrid model will get a hike in power from 160PS to 180PS. Kia has also announced an LPG version, but this won't come to our shores as the alternative fuel fades in popularity. The current full-hybrid offering will stay, although if the US version is anything to go by, it'll have a more powerful electric motor. The plug-in hybrid model will stay, too.
