The seven-seat version of Tesla's Model Y is finally available in the UK, five years after it was first introduced in the USA.
Previously, only five-seat models of the Tesla Model Y were available, despite the fact that a third row of seats was available Stateside from launch. Now you can order a Model Y with the extra seats, albeit only in Long Range form with all-wheel drive.
We've yet to sit in one, so we can't vouch for how much headroom there will be in a car that has a steeply sloped roofline, but it should, on paper at least, give extra flexibility for larger families. Downsides? The extra seats eat into the boot space, which drops to 363 litres. However, lower the back seats and that capacity grows to 753 litres, and there's also 117 litres of storage under the bonnet.
Tesla says the car will have up to a 351-mile range on a fully charged battery, and sprint from standstill to 60mph in 4.8 seconds.

The seven-seat Tesla Model Y is on sale now, with deliveries expected before the end of the year. It costs from £54,390, which is a £2500 increase on the equivalent five-seat model. The most affordable new Model Y is the rear-wheel-drive Long Range model, which costs from £46,990.
