Subaru has revealed its first all-electric mid-size SUV, and it's on its way to the UK early in 2026.
The Subaru Uncharted will compete with the likes of the Kia EV4, the Skoda Elroq, the Renault Scenic E-Tech, the Volvo EX30 and many more, and promises a rugged element with the option of all-wheel drive and a range of up to 363 miles, depending on the version.
Two battery options will be available to cater for different budgets and requirements, and there will be both front-wheel-drive versions and all-wheel drive, too.
Under the Subarised surface, the Uncharted shares its underpinnings with the forthcoming Toyota C-HR+; a relationship that's particularly noticeable inside.
New 2026 Subaru Uncharted: price and release date
No pricing or UK specifications for the new Subaru Uncharted have been announced as yet, and nor has a firm on-sale date. We do know, however, that it's scheduled to launch in early 2026, likely with a starting price between £30,000 and £35,000.

New 2026 Subaru Uncharted: exterior and interior
Subaru says the Uncharted has been designed for "outdoor-loving explorers and performance enthusiasts alike", and the exterior has a suitable rugged, dynamic design to differentiate from the mechanical identical Toyota C-HR+. The front-end design has elements we've already seen on the forthcoming new Subaru E-Outback, and there are new designs of alloy wheels in both 18-inch and 20-inch sizes.
Inside, the interior looks virtually identical to that of the C-HR+, with the same 7.0-inch instrument panel and 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are likely to be included as standard, as are two wireless chargers for mobile phones. The steering wheel is different though – it's square, with paddles behind it to adjust the strength of the regenerative braking system. Physical dials are used to change the temperature of the climate control, meaning you don't have to poke through the touchscreen menus if you're too hot or cold.
Like the C-HR+, the boot measures 416 litres in capacity. The back seats fold down in a 60:40 split.

New 2026 Subaru Uncharted: motors and batteries
There will be three versions of the Subaru Uncharted. The entry-level model sees a 57.7kWh battery powering a single electric motor driving the front wheels, with a range of up to 276 miles according to Subaru's best estimates. The Long Range model, also with front-wheel drive, will have a larger 77kWh battery that boosts the range up to 363 miles.
Top of the tree is the all-wheel-drive, dual-motor model with a combined 344PS of power and a range of 292 miles. Subaru says it'll hit 62mph from standstill in five seconds, and can also tow up to 1500kg.
A 22kW on-board charger is included as standard. Subaru says a 10% to 80% charge can be completed in 30 minutes with a suitable rapid charger.
