Kia new EV4 electric car, is now on sale.
The new family hatchback is a rival for cars like the Volkswagen ID.3, Cupra Born, MG4 and more. It promises a battery range of up to 388 miles, depending on the model, with three trim levels to choose from. There are also two battery options – a 58.3kWh unit in the entry-level car, and an 81.4kWh battery across the rest of the range,
The EV4 sports bold lines and aerodynamic styling, with a high-tech interior, adds yet another all-electric model to the Kia range, which now includes the EV3, the EV4, the EV6 and the EV9. A saloon version, called the EV4 Fastback, will follow the hatchback, but more details have yet to be announced.
New 2025 Kia EV4: price and release date
The new Kia EV4 costs from £34,695. That price gets you the entry-level EV4 Air with the smaller 58.3kWh battery – if you want the extra range fo the 81.4kWh battery then you'll have to pay an extra £3000, taking the price to £37,695.
Upgrade to the GT-Line trim and that'll cost you from £39,395, while the top-spec GT-Line S model comes from £42,895. The pricing and specs keeps the Kia EV4 competitive against myriad rivals, including the ID.3, the Hyundai Kona Electric and Renault Megane E-Tech.
The order books for the EV4 are open now, with the first deliveries due in the autumn.

New 2025 Kia EV4: exterior and interior
The EV4 adopts a modern and minimalist design that stays true to Kia's 2023 concept model. The saloon variant features a low-slung bonnet and a sleek fastback profile, while the hatchback offers a more practical shape that should result in a spacious interior. Both models incorporate Kia’s signature ‘EV Tiger Face’ front-end design, with vertical headlamps and "Star Map" lighting elements that give the car a distinctive look.
The hatchback’s design features strong, sculpted lines, contrasting black C-pillars, and robust fenders, giving it a dynamic presence. The forthcoming EV4 Fastback saloon, meanwhile, has an elongated silhouette with a long-tail design, complemented by a roof spoiler.
Inside, the EV4 features a minimalist and high-tech interior with a free-floating infotainment display, an asymmetric steering wheel, and a focus on maximised space. A 30-inch combined widescreen display dominates the dashboard, integrating a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 5.3-inch climate control display, and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. Kia’s Digital Key 2.0 system lets you access the car through a smartphone or Apple Watch, while the infotainment system also supports content streaming, including YouTube and Netflix. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both inclulded, as is an AI assistant feature that uses ChatGPT to better understand natural language.
There are two USB-C charging points in the front, and two in the back. The boot is a decent size with a capacity of 435 litres and the rear seats fold down in a 60:40 split.

New 2025 Kia EV4: motors and batteries
The Kia EV4 shares its mechanical platform – known as E-GMP – with other Kia electric cars, including the EV3 and the forthcoming EV5. There'll be a choice of 58kWh and 81kWh battery packs, the smaller of which offers a range of up to 273 miles in the hatchback model, while the larger promises up to 388 miles. Both use a front-mounted 204PS electric motor, which delivers a 7.5-second 0-62mph time in the 58kWh model, while the same sprint takes 7.7 seconds in the slightly heavier 81kWh version.
As with other models in Kia’s EV lineup, a high-performance GT version is expected in the future, potentially offering a dual-motor setup with power comparable to the Tesla Model 3 Performance.
The EV4 features 400V charging tech that should allow fast charging from 10% to 80% battery capacity in 31 minutes on the 81kWh model and 29 minutes for the 58kWh version. A heat pump is available, but only as an option, and only on the top-spec GTR-Line S model.

New 2025 Kia EV4: trim levels
There will be three trim levels on the EV4. The entry-level model is the Air, which rides on 17-inch alloy wheels and features LED headlights, and heated front seats with grey cloth upholstery. Upgrade to the GT-Line moidel, and you'll get 19-inch wheels, sportier exterior styling with gloss black door mirrors, side sills and wheel arches, synthetic leather upgolstery and electric driver seat adjustment, as well as a wireless phone charger and a digital key function, which lets you operate the car using your phone.
The top-spec GT Line S model has an opening sunroof, more advanced LED lights and heated outer rear seats. The front seats get a ventilation function for hot days, and both are electrically adjustable, and more comfortable than in other models. There's a powered boot lid, and vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, which lets you charge three-pin plug appliances from the car's battery. Other features include a head-up display, an eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, and a 360-degree around-view monitor system.
