Used Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe for sale: everything you need to know

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe is a premium and practical family car that comes with lots of luxury and also boasts impressive handling.

It’s a good alternative to the larger Mercedes GLC SUV model, which is perhaps a better option for anyone with a sizeable family to move around. Conversely, the slimline looks of the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe make it a good bet for anyone who wants plenty of comfort and a stylish experience, without the need for quite as much space.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe is also a smaller alternative to the GLE Coupe, which is bulkier and also makes a good option if you’re left feeling uninspired by the likes of the BMW X4.

Mercedes-Benz has also done it’s best to make the GLC Coupe fun to drive, with a sporty feel being delivered both from the engine choices as well as the stiffer suspension setup.

Depending on the model and options on your used example, the trim levels are generally impressive too, with a solid selection of features and functions appearing in most cars.

If you’re looking for an affordable used buy, there’s a huge amount of choice. Take a look at a Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe for sale on heycar to discover just what’s on offer.

Should you buy a Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe?

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe is an ideal option if you’re left feeling less than enamoured by the many SUVs that are out there on the used market right now.

You get plenty of positives, but with a sleekier, low-slung body style that will appeal to anyone who’s not taken by the likes of the rival BMW X4.

There are some compromises, however, with the lower body style meaning that room in the back isn’t as good, even though the many variants of this car means that you’ll usually get a trim specification that easily makes up for that.

A Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe not for you? We've got 1000s of used cars for sale to suit all budgets and needs.

What’s the best used Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe model to buy?

The Mercedes GLC Coupe shares engines and trim options with the GLC SUV. This means a somewhat overwhelming range to choose from, but there should be a model to suit all needs.

For pre-2019 facelift models, AMG Line offers a decent blend of value and features such as 19-inch wheels and AMG body styling. After the facelift, AMG Line Premium added an impressive digital dashboard, Apple CarPlay connectivity and an upgraded sound system.

If you regularly travel long distances, the GLC 300d diesel will offer pace and economy. Should you stick to the suburbs, a petrol GLC 300 will be rewarding to drive and not too costly to run.

Finding a GLC Coupe with the desirable Air Body Control air suspension is worthwhile. This reduces the otherwise firm-ish ride, and still maintains decent handling in line with the car’s sporty image.

Used Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe fuel economy and performance

With sporty looks, Mercedes GLC Coupe buyers will expect engine options to be inspiring. There is certainly no shortage of choice, and all models come with a nine-speed automatic transmission and 4Matic four-wheel drive.

Economy-wise, look to the plug-in hybrid GLC 300e which is capable of covering up to 30 miles on battery power alone and officially achieves 113mpg. The diesel GLC 220d is the most economical, with official fuel economy of up to 48.7mpg. The more powerful GLC 300d achieves 44.1mpg in the same test.

Of the petrol cars, the GLC 300 achieves up to 34.9mpg with the GLC 43 being most efficient of the AMG models at 28mpg. The V8-engined GLC 63 S manages just 22mpg.

  • Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe diesel: Earlier diesel options included the 2.1-litre four-cylinder, offered in 170PS 220d and 204PS 250d flavours. Fuel economy is the same for both, whilst the 250d is 0.7 seconds quicker from 0-62mph, with a time of 7.6 seconds.
  • Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe 2.0-litre: This new 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel was launched as part of the 2019 update taking the 220d model to 194PS. In addition, the GLC 300d, with 245PS and a 0-62mph time of 6.6 seconds, replaced the 250d.
  • Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe 3.0-litre V6 GLC 350d: The hard to find 3.0-litre V6 GLC 350d producing 258PS and managing 0-62mph in 6.8 seconds also appears on the used market from time to time.
  • Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe: Petrol starts with the 2.0-litre GLC 250 featuring 211PS allowing 0-62mph in 7.3 seconds but this has been surpassed by the newer, more powerful GLC 300, with 258PS and a mild-hybrid boost.
  • Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol V6: The AMG GLC 43 is the entry-level performance model, originally offered with 367PS. Upgrades to the 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol V6 in 2019 took power to 390PS, but the 0-62mph time remained at 4.9 seconds.
  • Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8: The 476PS AMG GLC 63 is seriously quick. Zero to 62mph takes 4.0 seconds, and it is limited to 155mph. Moving to the GLC 63 S unleashes 510PS, with 0-62mph in 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 174mph.
  • Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe GLC 300e is a plug-in hybrid, combining a 211PS 2.0-litre petrol engine with a 122PS electric motor. Not only can it cruise on battery power for up to 30 miles, but has an impressive 0-62mph time of 5.7 seconds.

What used Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe trim levels are available?

The Mercedes-Benz model range can be bamboozling but the good news is that things are simpler with the GLC Coupe than they were with the SUV edition.

  • Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe Sport Models lower down the range initially began with Sport specification and featured 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, sports suspension, Artico artificial leather upholstery as well as Garmin satellite navigation.
  • Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe AMG Line Following a 2019 update, the GLC Coupe micks off with the AMG Line, which means 19-inch wheels, AMG styling details and the later MBUX multimedia system. AMG Line Premium moves up to 20-inch wheels, adds adaptive LED headlights, genuine leather trim and as well as a digital dashboard.
  • Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe AMG Line Premium Plus These models get a sliding sunroof and Burmester surroundsound audio. Top of the pile is the AMG Line Ultimate, which gets air suspension. AMG GLC 43 and GLC 63 performance cars get variations on the theme.

Used Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe dimensions and boot size

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe’s dimensions are:

  • Length: 4731mm
  • Width: 1890mm
  • Height: 1578mm
  • Ground clearance: 150mm

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe’s boot size is:

  • 500-litres (350 litres PHEV)
  • 1400 litres (1250 litres PHEV) with rear seats folded down

Used Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe road tax

Owners of all models pay £475 a year, aside that is from the plug-in hybrid GLC 300e, which is £465. It’s worth noting the GLC 300e also gets a lower benefit-in-kind company car tax rate of 16 percent, with the rest of the range between 36 percent and 37 percent.

How much is it to insure a Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe?

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe is a premium car, so expect premiums to be higher than many lowlier models. You might be able to take the edge of this by heading for something like the GLC 220d diesel. That sits in group 29 out of 50, with this being the same regardless of trim level.

Of the petrol engine cars, the popular GLC 300 is group 40 for AMG Line specification moving up to group 41 for Premium Plus versions. Thanks to its powerful V8, the AMG GLS 63 S will be the most expensive to insure, falling into group 48.
