Nissan has revealed more details of the all-new, third-generation Leaf.

No longer sporting the hatchback bodystyle of the previous Nissan Leaf, the new model is now a sleek EV with an impressive battery range, and one that will give customers a new option when considering the likes of the Kia EV3, the Skoda Elroq and the Volkswagen ID.3.

It'll come with a choice of two batteries, the larger of which promises a range of up to 375 miles on a single charge. Fast charging at up to 150kW should keep waits at the charging stations to a minimum, and the Leaf has several of the latest electric vehicle (EV) features, including Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) to charge external devices such as kettles or electric grills.

The new Leaf will be built at Nissan's Sunderland plant in the UK.

New 2026 Nissan Leaf: exterior and interior

The previous Nissan Leafs have been hatchbacks, but this new third-generation model is a sleek and aerodynamic family SUV. Nissan says it has a low drag coefficient of just 0.25, which should help keep its battery range realistic. Features to increase its aero slipperiness include flush door handles and an under-floor cover.

The new Leaf rides on 18-inch alloy wheels as standard with 19-inch versions on the top trims. There'll be a choice of seven paint colours, including the Luminous Teal hue you see here, while the interior trim is black or white with purple accents.

Inside, Nissan promises a spacious interior despite the Leaf's relatively compact proportions, with a 437 litre boot. Some models will get an electric boot lid. The infotainment system operates over two 14.3-inch screens and features built-in Google features inlcuding Maps, Assistant and the Play store. A Bose sound system includes an integrated speaker in the driver headrest for navigation and pohoen announcements.

New 2026 Nissan Leaf: motors and batteries

The new Leaf comes with a choice of two batteries. The smaller 52kWh battery has an official range of up to 271 miles, while the 75kWh option boosts that to 375 miles.

Each battery has its own motor – the 52kWh model has a 177PS motor with 345Nm of torque, while the 75kWh model has 218PS and 355Nm. The Leaf can fast-charge at up to 150kW with a suitable charger, which Nissan says means the Leaf can recover 260 miles or fange in 30 minutes.
