Kia has unveiled the Concept EV2, a compact all-electric SUV that previews a future entry-level model in its growing EV lineup.
Positioned below the EV3, the production version of the EV2 is expected to offer a relatively affordable, town-focused alternative in the very popular small electric SUV market.
Kia has confirmed that the production model will launch in Europe and other regions in 2026. The EV2 will enter an increasingly competitive segment, going up against rivals like the Jeep Avenger, Peugeot E-2008, the forthcoming Volkswagen ID.2, and the new Renault 5. With a focus on affordability and practicality, the EV2 will aim to attract town and city drivers looking for a compact but hopefully versatile electric SUV.

New 2026 Kia EV2: exterior and interior
The Concept EV2 showcases a boxy but futuristic design, with elements of rugged SUV styling and a confident stance. Kia’s signature front-end (known as ‘EV Tiger Face’) is complemented by vertical daytime running lights and lighting elements that Kia calls 'Star Map'. Geometric details on the wheel arches and glasshouse add to its bold look.
Inside, the EV2 aims for a minimalist but functional approach, with a strong emphasis on practicality. A flat floor and rear-hinged doors create an airy, spacious feel (although the door might not make it to the full production version), while sustainable materials abound and there are innovative storage solutions such as pop-up luggage dividers, as well as removable triangular speakers.

New 2026 Kia EV2: motors and batteries
While Kia has not yet provided full technical details, the production EV2 is expected to be based on the company’s dedicated electric platform and offer a choice of battery options. Kia says the Concept EV2 prioritises efficiency and affordability, which suggests that it may offer a smaller-capacity battery alongside a longer-range variant.
As with other Kia EVs, the EV2 is expected to support rapid DC fast charging, with an estimated 10% to 80% charge time of less than 30 minutes. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality is also anticipated, allowing owners to power external devices directly from the battery through a plug socket.
