Kia has revealed more details abou the Concept EV2, its compact all-electric SUV that previews a future entry-level model in its growing EV lineup.
Positioned below the EV3, the production version of the EV2 is expected to offer a relatively affordable, town-focused alternative in the very popular small electric SUV market. First revealed in February, Kia has now announced details of the interior, which uses various sustainable materials in a design that the Koran firm hopes will be versatile and functional while keeping a feeling of openness in what will be a small car.
Kia has confirmed that the production EV2 will launch in Europe and other regions in 2026. The EV2 will enter an increasingly competitive segment, going up against rivals like the Jeep Avenger, Peugeot E-2008, the forthcoming Volkswagen ID.2, and the new Renault 5. With a focus on affordability and practicality, the EV2 will aim to attract town and city drivers looking for a compact but hopefully versatile electric SUV.
New 2025 Kia EV2: price and release date
The production version of the Kia EV2 is set to launch in Europe in 2026, and we'll here more about UK specs and prices nearer the time. Pricing details have yet to be announced, but the EV2 will be positioned below the £32,215 EV3, making it one of Kia’s most affordable electric vehicles.

New 2026 Kia EV2: exterior and interior
The Concept EV2 showcases a boxy but futuristic design, with elements of rugged SUV styling and a confident stance. Kia’s signature front-end (known as ‘EV Tiger Face’) is complemented by vertical daytime running lights and lighting elements that Kia calls 'Star Map'. Geometric details on the wheel arches and glasshouse add to its bold look.
Inside, the EV2 aims for a minimalist but functional approach, with a strong emphasis on practicality. Kia says the interior concept is inspired by "a picnic in the city", with inspiratiopn including urban balconies and terraces, the idea being to offer a relaxing, open space within a compact area.
A flat floor and rear-hinged doors create an airy, spacious feel (although the door might not make it to the full production version), while sustainable materials abound – Simplifyber Fybron on the dash and doors, made from wood, paper and recycled textiles, Mycelium-based materials in the cabin derived from fungus, and AmpliTex in the seats, which is a composite that uses flax fibre. There are also innovative storage solutions such as pop-up luggage dividers, as well as removable triangular speakers.
Features of the concept (which may or may not make full production) include side-extendable seat elements, detachable seat cushions and headrest-integrated speakers. The second-row seats and front seats can slide far back to expand the usable cabin space.

New 2026 Kia EV2: motors and batteries
While Kia has not yet provided full technical details, the production EV2 is expected to be based on the company’s dedicated electric platform and offer a choice of battery options. Kia says the Concept EV2 prioritises efficiency and affordability, which suggests that it may offer a smaller-capacity battery alongside a longer-range variant.
As with other Kia EVs, the EV2 is expected to support rapid DC fast charging, with an estimated 10% to 80% charge time of less than 30 minutes. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality is also anticipated, allowing owners to power external devices directly from the battery through a plug socket.
