All-new Jeep Compass revealed

Written By Phill Tromans

2025 Jeep Compass First Edition

Jeep's all-new Compass has been revealed in full, with hybrid, plug-in hybrid and full-electric versions all confirmed.

The standout headline is of an electric Compass for the first time, with an impressive 404-mile battery range when fitted with the larger of two battery options. The third-generation mid-size SUV will replace the current Jeep Compass, which has been made since 2016.

The new car is built on parent company Stellantis's STLA Medium platform, which also underpins cars like the Peugeot E-3008 and E-5008, and the Vauxhall Grandland. As well as the electric version, Jeep has confirmed hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions, and of course it wouldn't be a Jeep without the option of all-wheel drive.

Rivals, as well as the Stellantis cars mentioned above, will include the likes of the Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson and Volkswagen Tiguan.

New 2025 Jeep Compass: price and release date

The order books for the new Jeep Compass open in the summer, with the first deliveries expected in the last quarter of 2025. Prices have yet to be revealed, although expect EV prices to begin at less than £40,000.

New 2025 Jeep Compass: exterior and interior

Although it's based on similar mechanical bits to its Stellantis stablemates, the Jeep Compass is higher to give it the ground clearance and off-road ability that its customers will expect. As such, there's 200mm of space under the car, and it's 150mm longer than the second-generation Compass, with a longer wheelbase and short overhangs as the front and back.

The style is influenced by the smaller Avenger as well as the now-obligatory heritage Jeep design cues, such as the seven-slot grille. Matrix LED headlamps are available.

Inside, there's a dashboard that features a large 16-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, linked to a 10-inch digital driver display. There are various other touch controls too, continuing the industry trend for eschewing physical buttons. A head-up display is available, too.

New 2025 Jeep Compass: engines, gearboxes, motors and batteries

Jeep has confirmed hybrid, plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and electric powertrains for the new Compass. The hybrid system uses a 48V system that allows brief electric-only driving around town, and delivers 145PS or power.

The PHEV has more power with 195PS from its petrol-electric system, and although Jeep hasn't confirmed the electric-only range, it's likely to be around 55 miles.

There are an impressive three full-electric models of the Compass, starting with the front-wheel-drive version with 213PS and a range of 310 miles, another front-wheel-drive model with 229PS and a range of up to 404 miles, and a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive model called the 4xe, which with 375PS, the range of which has yet to be confirmed. Two battery packs are available – the more affordable 73kWh version or the long-range 96kWh unit.
