Hyundai Inster Cross: prices announced for rugged-looking electric city car
Written By Phill Tromans
Hyundai's new rugged variation of its Inster city car – the Inster Cross – is now available to order and starts at £28,745.
The Hyundai Inster is an electric city car due to arrive on UK shores in the first half of 2025. But if you've looked at the Inster and thought "I wish that looked more like an off-roader" then the Inster Cross could be for you.
With a rugged bodykit that includes revised bumpers and skid plates, as well as new 17-inch alloy wheels, black cladding and roof racks, the Inster Cross undoubtedly has a more off-road look, although it remains an all-electric city car, with a battery range of up to 223 miles on a full charge.

The new Hyundai Inster Cross is available to order now. Prices start at £28,745 and comes with Natural Ivory paint as standard. If you want a different colour, it'll cost you a but more: £300 for Atlas White, £600 for Abyss Black and £800, for the two matte options, Aero Silver and Amazons Green, the latter of which is exclusive to the Cross model.
The Hyundai Inster Cross comes with a five-year, unlimited-mileage warranty, five years of annual health checks and three years of MapCar navigation updates, as well as a roadside assistance package.
New 2025 Hyundai Inster Cross: exterior and interior
The Hyundai Inster Cross is a small city car, the same size as the standard Inster but with distinctive styling – it's 3844mm long, 1610mm wide without its door mirrors and 1610mm high. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with embossed black cladding to give it a chunkier look. A rear spoiler and body-coloured mirrors and door handles are all standard, as are roof rails and heated, electric folding door mirrors. The rear lights and daytime running lights are powered by LEDs.
Inside, the Inster Cross seats four, with reclining and sliding rear seats that fold down in a 50:50 split, heated front seats and steering wheel and climate control air conditioning, as well as keyless entry and start and an opening glass sunroof. The infotainment system uses a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and there's a 10-25-inch digital instrument display, too. Front and rear parking sensors are included, and there's a wireless charging pad and USB-C charging ports in the front and back. The boot has a capacity of up to 351 litres, or 1059 litres with the back seats folded.
An optional Tech Pack adds Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, with a three-pin plug to charge external appliances. Standard safety features include a blind-spot monitoring system with Blind Sport Collision Avoidance Assist, as well as a automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist and smart cruise control.
New 2025 Hyundai Inster Cross: motor and battery
Power for the new Hyundai Inster Cross comes from a 49kWh battery attached to a 115PS, 147Nm electric motor. That gives it a leisurely 0-62mph acceleration time of 10.6 seconds and a maximum range of 223 miles per charge. Plug it in to an 11kW wallbox charger and it'll recharge from 10% to 100% in just over four-and-a-half hours, while a fast charger will refill the battery from 10% to 80% capacity in 30 minutes at a maximum speed of 85kW.
