Used Vauxhall Mokka for sale: everything you need to know

The Vauxhall Mokka is one of the most athletic and dynamic-looking small SUVs on the market. It’s a super-stylish alternative to the similarly bold Nissan Juke, which has dominated for so long.

Other rivals to the Vauxhall Mokka include the excellent Ford Puma, the stylish SEAT Arona and the reliable Hyundai Kona.

This Mokka model arrived in 2021 and immediately made waves. It is the style-conscious sister car to the Vauxhall Crossland, with a fashionable interior that’s as eye-catching as the Vauxhall Mokka’s extrerior styling. It's also the smaller counterpart to the Vauxhall Grandland X.

Should you buy a Vauxhall Mokka?

The Vauxhall Mokka is part of a two-model small SUV line-up for the British brand. The Vauxhall Crossland is there to serve those focused on practicality, meaning the Vauxhall Mokka can major on head-turning good looks.

It has a really dynamic profile, with an almost coupe-like rear end and a squat, sporty stance. The front end is distinctive too, with the ‘black panel’ Vauxhall Vizor, behind which are hidden all the car’s various safety-assistance radars and sensors. Choose the GS Line variant and even the badges are finished in moody black.

The interior is different to most other small SUVs, with a wraparound dual-screen infotainment system that apes the setup on more expensive premium SUVs. With a high-set, confident driving position and Vauxhall’s typically brilliant seats, it’s a great car to sit behind the wheel of. The view down the commanding bonnet, with its distinct central spine, looks great.

Rear-seat space is OK. It’s not the biggest or the most practical in the rear (the Crossland ticks those boxes) but it’s fine for small families. Similarly, the boot isn’t massive, at up to 350 litres, but it’s still bigger than a regular supermini such as the Vauxhall Corsa, and that will be good enough for most.

Add in a strong level of standard equipment, plus the undeniable appeal of the mid-spec GS Line, which accounts for such a high proportion of cars available in the used market, and you have a small SUV with strengths that are clear to see.

A Vauxhall Mokka not for you? We've got 1000s of used cars for sale to suit all budgets and needs.

What's the best used Vauxhall Mokka model to buy?

The engine line-up is pretty limited. We'd go for the 1.2-litre petrol (unless you cover a lot of miles) – ideally the more powerful 130PS model. There's also the electric Vauxhall Mokka-e, if you're ready to make the jump to an electric vehicle.

In terms of trim level, go for the best you can afford. The basic SE is fine, but the sportier SRi adds a number of appealing features, while the GS Line hits a sweet spot. High-spec Elite Nav, Ultimate Nav and First Edition models are the most desirable.

Used Vauxhall Mokka fuel economy and performance

Vauxhall has retained a diesel Vauxhall Mokka alongside the core 1.2-litre turbo petrol – and it sells the pure electric Vauxhall Mokka-e, of course. The latter has an automatic transmission as standard, while there are automatic options for petrol and diesel engines, plus the standard six-speed manual gearbox.

  • Vauxhall Mokka 1.2 Turbo 100 petrol: Even the entry-level Vauxhall Mokka has a turbocharged engine, with the 1.2-litre three-cylinder motor producing 100PS. Zero to 62mph takes 10.6 seconds and it averages up to 51.4mpg, with CO2 emissions from 124g/km.
  • Vauxhall Mokka 1.2 Turbo 130 petrol: The more powerful 130PS 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine is appreciably quicker, with 0-62mph taking 9.1 seconds. Yet it’s still capable of averaging up to 51.4mpg and CO2 emissions are a little lower, starting from 123g/km.
  • Vauxhall Mokka 1.5 Turbo D diesel: The 110PS 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel is the slowest Vauxhall Mokka, accelerating from 0-62mph in 10.8 seconds. However, it’s also the most fuel-efficient, averaging up to 65.7mpg. CO2 emissions start from 114g/km.
  • Vauxhall Mokka-e electric: The Vauxhall Mokka-e has a 136PS electric motor that delivers punchy 0-62mph acceleration in 9.2 seconds. Thanks to the 50kWh battery, it has a range of 209 miles, and can use a 100kW DC rapid-charger to top it up from 0-80 percent in just 30 minutes.

What used Vauxhall Mokka trim levels are available?

Vauxhall simplified its trim levels, meaning the Vauxhall Mokka has an easy-to-understand three-model line-up, all with generous standard specifications. This did away with the earlier spread of SE, SRi, Elite Nav, Ultimate Nav, and First Edition versions that just served to confuse buyers.

  • The Vauxhall Mokka Design is the entry-level trim, and only available in petrol or diesel guises. Even this version has essentials such as the twin-screen Vauxhall Pure Panel infotainment display and standard air-con.
  • The Vauxhall Mokka GS Line is also available in pure electric Vauxhall Mokka-e format. Extras include larger alloy wheels, climate control air-con, larger infotainment screens and eye-catching red accents outside and in.
  • The Vauxhall Mokka Ultimate is the most luxurious new Vauxhall Mokka, which is also available as a Vauxhall Mokka-e EV. It has pretty much every option as standard, including rich Alcantara upholstery and a more comprehensive suite of active safety tech.

Used Vauxhall Mokka dimensions and boot size

The Vauxhall Mokka’s exterior dimensions are:

  • Length: 4,151mm
  • Width: 1,791mm
  • Height: 1,531mm
  • Ground clearance: TBA

The Vauxhall Mokka’s boot space is:

  • 350 litres (Vauxhall Mokka-e: 310 litres)
  • 1,105 litres with rear seats folded (Vauxhall Mokka-e: 1,060 litres)

Used Vauxhall Mokka road tax

If you choose the Vauxhall Mokka-e, the higher price to buy the car is offset to a small degree by it being free from road tax at present thanks to its zero carbon dioxide tailpipe emissions. The rest of the Mokka range will pay road tax at the fixed rate of £180 per year as used cars.

How much is it to insure a Vauxhall Mokka?

Insurance ratings for the Vauxhall Mokka start from a competitive group 13 (out of 50 groups in total). That’s for the entry-level 1.2 Turbo 100; the 1.2 Turbo 130 sees quite a jump, with ratings from group 18. Diesel models fall into group 14 or 15. The pure electric Vauxhall Mokka-e is more expensive to insure, starting from group 21 and increasing to 23.
