The Range Rover Sport is one of Land Rover’s top-selling vehicles. It’s been a desirable luxury SUV for years, winning favour with those who want a Range Rover-badged alternative to a Porsche, Mercedes-Benz or even a Land Rover Defender.
This latest model, which was introduced in 2022, aims to push the boundaries still further. Following the styling of the latest Range Rover, it is the most upmarket Range Rover Sport ever, with smooth and sophisticated styling, plus an interior that has been transformed by the latest tech.
Rivals to the Range Rover Sport include the Porsche Cayenne, the Audi Q7 and the excellent BMW X5.
It has a strong range of engines, including high-performance V8s, fuel-sipping diesels and even a range of plug-in hybrids. Take a look at a Range Rover Sport for sale on heycar to discover just what’s on offer. But first, let’s tell you what you need to know.
The latest Range Rover Sport is an extremely desirable car to buy or lease. It has an enhanced sense of style, thanks to minimalist lines that give it an even smoother and sportier profile to set it apart from the flagship Range Rover. It’s striking just how carefully-crafted the design now is.
Inside, it has been transformed. The old car was good, but this is on another level. The centrepiece is Land Rover’s brilliant Pivi Pro infotainment system, which is among the best-looking and easiest to use systems in the business. The dashboard also has a pared-back look to match the exterior, with jewel-like details and some of the finest materials to make it feel even more luxurious.
With five comfortable seats, the Range Rover Sport is a roomy and comfortable machine in which to pass the miles. A comprehensive options list includes plenty of extras, including a high-end audio system. Occupants even enjoy full cabin air purification and active noise cancelling.
There’s an enticing line-up of engines. The diesels are all of the 3.0-litre straight-six variety, boasting mild hybrid tech to deliver impressive fuel economy. There is also a choice of 3.0-litre straight-six turbo petrols, again with mild hybrid tech – or the option of plug-in hybrid technology for more than 70 miles of pure electric driving. A range-topping V8 engine offers classic Range Rover Sport performance.
With a super-sophisticated chassis that boasts air suspension and a long list of electronic aids, the Range Rover Sport drives in a world-class way. It’s more than a match for a Porsche Cayenne, and the perfect platform for buyers to create a bespoke model just for them. If you’re looking to buy or lease a top-notch luxury SUV, the Range Rover Sport is a great choice.
The Range Rover Sport is a much in-demand model, and it’s easy to see why. This latest one builds on the fantastic reputation of its two predecessors, with an even better drive, a perfectly-crafted design and an interior that’s almost Bentley-like in its luxury and refinement.
Expanding the engine line-up means there is a powertrain for everyone, be it traditional diesels or more advanced plug-in hybrids. The latter have a fantastic pure electric range thanks to their big batteries. The V8 range-topper is likely to be thrilling, too.
One of Land Rover’s best-selling models, despite its heady prices, the Range Rover Sport may be more expensive than ever, but it justifies a high price tag. Besides, it’s in such high demand, retained values remain glittering, which helps make it more affordable to lease or buy on PCP finance. Right now, it’s looking like a luxury performance SUV that really can do no wrong.
A Range Rover Sport not for you? We've got 1000s of used cars for sale to suit all budgets and needs.
There's not a bad model combination in the Range Rover Sport line-up so we don't think you'll be disappointed, whichever model you choose. The level of standard fit equipment is high, as you'd expect given the price.
The 'entry' Range Rover Sport SE gets a fixed panoramic roof, heated windscreen, heated washer jets, 21-inch alloy wheels (which can be changed to 20-inch alloys for no cost), two-zone climate control, 20-way electric heated memory front seats with heated power recline rear seats, perforated Windsor leather seats and a heated steering wheel.
While we think plug-in hybrid PHEV models are very impressive, we'd still suggest the diesels are the best choice. We'd go for a Range Rover Sport D300 SE Dynamic, which gets 21-inch satin dark grey alloys with black brake calipers and extra dynamic interior and exterior styling.
The Range Rover Sport is available in a number of very well-equipped trims, including a lavish First Edition for those looking to buy or lease the new car in its first year on sale.

The Range Rover Sport’s boot size is:
With the Range Rover being a big car, CO2 emissions are quite high. With first year tax based on emissions this means a tax rate of more than £1500 on diesel and petrols. However, the plug-in hybrid PHEVs have very low emissions which means zero car tax for the first 12 months.
With the cheapest Range Rover Sport priced at more than £80,000, all models incur the 'premium car tax' which means an extra £390 a year in tax. This lasts for five years (from the second time the vehicle is taxed) and is in additon to the annual car tax rate, currently £180 for a petrol or diesel and £170 for the PHEV.
When it comes to car insurance, you’re looking at the upper end of the 1-50 insurance group ratings for the Range Rover Sport. The D250 and D300 don’t quite fall into the most expensive group 50 rating, but they’re still not going to be a bargain in terms of annual premiums. It’s a safe bet that insuring a Range Rover Sport will be expensive, maybe even a four-figure bill each year. That’s the price you pay for such a high-end vehicle that is so desirable.
