Used Ford Tourneo Connect for sale: everything you need to know

The Ford Tourneo Connect is all about practicality and, if you’re looking for a used example, this minivan that’s based around a collaboration with VW and its Caddy, makes a great choice.

You can pick up used examples of the Ford Tourneo Connect in one of two variants, with a standard-sized MPV body supplemented by the longer wheelbase Grand Tourneo Connect. Both models are available with either five or seven seats too, which makes this minivan perfect for people carrying duties.

Being a MPV makes the Ford Tourneo Connect a direct rival to the VW Caddy and it matches that vehicle on most counts, with a boxy body shape and twin sliding doors at the rear providing quick and easy access.

Although it might not be quite as rewarding to drive as many Ford models in the range, the Tourneo Connect is certainly more than capable. It’s a simple setup too, with just two trim levels to choose from meaning you’re not going to be bamboozled when picking through used models.

Aside from the VW Caddy, the Ford S-Max is another model to consider as a close rival although you might also want to investigate the Citroen Berlingo or the very spacious Dacia Jogger, both of which represent great value on the used side of things.

If you’re looking to buy a used Ford Tourneo Connect there’s a huge amount of choice. Take a look at a Ford Tourneo Connect for sale on heycar to discover just what’s on offer.

Should you buy a Ford Tourneo Connect?

The Ford Tourneo Connect falls into the MPV category, which if you regularly need to move people and their stuff around makes it a very practical used buy. Based on the VW Caddy and with the underpinnings of a Volkswagen Golf, this is a spacious mover that drives respectably too.

Although there are rivals, such as the Citroen Berlingo and Dacia Jogger, that both offer plenty of space and seating too, the Ford Tourneo Connect looks pretty cool, especially if you can find one with the Titanium trim.

However, while Ford has a good reputation for its comfort levels and tech, the Ford Tourneo Connect is a little more spartan inside. The popular SYNC 4 infotainment system is absent, but there is a decent 10-inch touchscreen, while DAB radio, sat-nav, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth make amends somewhat.

The Ford Tourneo Connect isn’t quite as rewarding to drive as many other models in the portfolio though. However, even in its 1.5-litre turbo petrol guise, the MPV goes well enough although you’ll want the 2.0-litre turbodiesel if you’re aiming for lots of longer runs with people and cargo on-board.

A Ford Tourneo Connect not for you? We've got 1000s of used cars for sale to suit all budgets and needs.

What’s the best used Ford Tourneo Connect model to buy?

Ford offers the Tourneo Connect in two lengths – the standard version and the longer wheelbase Grand Tourneo Connect that is 35cm (or 12-inches in old money). That extra length is important if you want to carry seven people a lot of the time as it not only means you have more boot space with seven on board, the middle row seats can also slide back to offer more knee space than in the shorter wheelbase model with its fixed position second row seats.

The Titanium trim offers all you could want in an MPV, while the Active has a slightly raised ride height to cope with rugged lanes better.

The 2.0-litre turbodiesel will be the engine you want if carrying seven people often as it has 122PS and more low-down pull than the 115PS 1.5-litre turbo petrol. As for a gearbox, you can pick from six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic transmissions with either engine option.

Used Ford Tourneo Connect fuel economy and performance

The Ford Tourneo Connect is available with a simple choice of petrol or diesel engines, which makes searching for used examples pretty straightforward.

  • The Ford Tourneo Connect 1.5L Ecoboost: The 1.5-litre Ecoboost turbo petrol engine is reasonably sprightly and offers up 114PS. This makes it well suited if you’re doing lots of shorter, around town-type runs, with a six-speed manual transmission or seven-speed automatic gearbox working well on both counts. Expect combined economy of 42.8mpg from the heftier Grand as compared to the shorter Tourneo Connect’s 44.1mpg.
  • The Ford Tourneo Connect 122PS 2.0L turbodiesel: A step up in the power department and much more suited for heavier load carrying duties and longer motorway runs, especially if you opt for the automatic gearbox version. Similarly, the Tourneo Connect delivers an average of 57.6mpg, with the Grand model only slightly behind at 56.5mpg.

What used Ford Tourneo Connect trim levels are available?

The Ford Tourneo Connect is available in a standard edition, which is supplemented by the larger Grand version and comes in two trim levels – Titanium and Active. Adding to the appeal is the way Ford offered a number of options for the Tourneo Connect including a panoramic glass roof, power operated tailgate, heated steering wheel and a detachable tow bar. Some used examples might also feature the X Pack, which features LED headlights and automatic high beam adjust, rear view camera plus dual zone climate control.

  • The Ford Tourneo Connect Titanium model features a chrome insert in the front bumper and colour-coded door handles, tailgate handle, door mirror caps. It also comes with heated and power fold door mirrors, automatic wipers, rear privacy glass and neat silver-pained roof rails. The interior features a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen, air conditioning, heated front seats and a stereo armed with six speakers. Complimenting all that is a front seat tray table, underseat storage beneath the passenger chair plus a leather gear knob and cloth upholstery.
  • The Ford Tourneo Connect Active model sports 17-inch alloy wheels, a front bumper with skid plate to boost its SUV-style appearance along with plastic wheel arch trims. A honeycomb front grille in satin black sets things off nicely. On the inside of the Active there are seats trimmed with Nordic Blue stitching, which is also used on the steering wheel, gear lever and floor mats.

Used Ford Tourneo Connect dimensions and boot size

The Ford Tourneo Connect’s dimensions are:

  • Length: 4500mm
  • Width: 1855mm
  • Height: 1833mm
  • Ground clearance: 143mm

The Ford Tourneo Connect’s boot size is:

  • 1213-litres seats up / 2556-litres seats down Grand Tourneo
  • 1720-litres seats up / 3105-litres seats down Grand Tourneo Connect

Used Ford Tourneo Connect road tax

If you’re looking to minimise your road tax burden, the Tourneo Connect that features the 2.0-litre diesel engine and manual gearbox is a sensible bet. It produces 128g/km of carbon dioxide, meaning you would have paid £210 for the first year of Vehicle Excise Duty. Outside of that, the range falls into the bracket above this, which means new buyers would have paid £255 for the initial 12 months of road tax. After that, all models of the Ford Tourneo Connect are charged at a standard £180 for a year’s road tax.

How much is it to insure a Ford Tourneo Connect?

The Ford Tourneo Connect sits in Group 11 for the smaller engined 1.5 Ecoboost model while it rises to Group 13 for the Grand Tourneo Active variant, fitted with the 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine. It’s worth noting the Volkswagen Caddy might appear cheaper to insure due to its less powerful base engine model.
