Used Audi e-tron for sale: everything you need to know

The Audi e-tron is an all electric luxury SUV that was one of the first to break into the premium electric sector of the market. Since the e-tron name came about there have been several variants including the Q8, Q4 and GT.

This range of premium electric cars first arrived back in 2018 and have been growing in range and offerings since then. To be clear, that e-tron name is also used to describe some hybrid models, like the A3 Sportback e-tron, for example. But for the purposes of this guide the focus is on the pure electric e-tron.

Expect to find lots of luxury with an interior that's comfortable and premium. But there's power too with all that torque from the electric motor driving out serious performance. Plus you have that iconic Audi electric motor sound that really makes this feel cutting-edge.

As standard expect multiple internal screens, electric seats, app controls, 360-degree camera, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There are three model variants that offer differing power and range in the forms of the 50 and 55 options plus an S variant.

The latest version of the Audi e-tron has been for sale since 2018 but since 2022 it was relaunched as the Q8 e-tron.

Key rivals for the Audi e-tron include the Mercedes EQC in terms of luxury and the Jaguar I-Pace for quality build and performance power. Or you could go for the newer variant of this in the form of the Audi Q8 e-tron.

Should you buy a used Audi e-tron?

The Audi e-tron is a fine choice if you want all the comforts of a traditional brand's take on an SUV only with that pure electric drive system.

That means these are capable of offering impressive speeds off the mark while still keeping the ride comfortable and range decent enough for most daily needs. In fact, thanks to that electric motor you can expect even more quiet and comfort in these than traditional engine based models from Audi.

The e-tron also comes with a five star safety rating from Euro NCAP so you can expect peace of mind as an individual or if you plan to use this as a family car.

Charging times vary but this does have a 150 kW capability meaning some very fast charging potential at the right charging station. It's worth noting that battery performance and range can lower over time so be sure you're buying a model that has at least 80% battery efficiency still. Also think about getting a charging box at your home, if that's an option, as the 50 model can take about ten hours to charge on a 7 kW charger.

The three options to pick from are the 50, the 55 and the S. While the 50 offers a 71 kWh battery setup and two electric motors, the 55 and S come with a 95 kWh battery system meaning more range and power output.

The Audi e-tron offers plenty of space inside as well as a large boot, plus that frunk space, making it ideal for families and more. There is a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, 10.1-inch infotainment screen and a lower 8.6-inch display for ventilation settings. You also get autonomous braking, pedestrian detection and exit warnings, to make this super safe.

Audi e-tron not for you? We've got 1000s of used cars for sale to suit all budgets and needs.

What’s the best used Audi e-tron model to buy?

The Audi e-tron is a fairly simple car to kit out as it comes in three variants of the 50, 55, and S, which are all about the variations in power, performance and range more than anything else.

Go for the 50 model if range isn't as important and getting the fastest time off the line isn't your concern. This will save you some money while still offering you all the premium features and luxuries of this e-tron model.

If you opt for the 55 version you will have a fast 0-62 MPH time and get more range, but you also need to factor in that it will take a little longer to charge that more expansive battery bay.

Go for the S Quattro model and you get maximum performance power from the 95 kWh battery setup for a rapid 0-62 MPH rate.

Used Audi e-tron fuel economy and performance

  • Audi e-tron 50: This model comes with a 71 kWh battery for a 0-62 MPH time of 6.8-seconds from that 309 BHP setup. This takes about 10 hours to charge from a 7 kW wall box and gets you a 190-mile range.
  • Audi e-tron 55: This faster variant uses a 96 kWh battery for a 402 BHP output that gets you a 0-62 MPH time of 5.7-seconds and charges to full in 14 hours and gets you a 247-mile range.
  • Audi e-tron S: This also features a 95 kWh battery but offers 496 BHP meaning you get a 0-62 MPH time of 4.5-seconds. This has a 225-mile range.
