The Aston Martin DBX sits in among a rare breed of super-premium hypercar SUVs. That means it promises plenty of comfort and space while still delivering some of the best handling and performance you can get from an SUV.
This launched in 2020 as the first SUV made by the brand that is favoured by James Bond himself. It sits on the line between full and mid-sized but will comfortably seat five. It's worth noting that the 2022 model was the first to be equipped with Aston Martin's all-wheel drive system that uses an active centre differential and electronic rear differential.
The DBX 707 variant is one of the fastest SUV cars you can buy with a top speed of 193 MPH and some of the best handling to go with that. While the infotainment system is a little dated and the interior doesn't live up to the price, the handling and power make up for that.
Of course you will pay for that power with a mind boggling 8 MPG when going at top speed from the standard 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 that gives 505 BHP.
While the rear seats won't offer much room for larger riders, this does pack in five seats and plenty of safety kit as standard.
Key rivals for the Aston Martin DBX include the Porsche Cayenne, the Lamborghini Urus, Maserati Levante and for pure luxury, the Bentley Bentayga.
The Aston Martin DBX is a great car if you want something that will stand out versus the competition and is still great in its new and used versions.
With some of the most impressive handling and power on any SUV on the road, plus all the luxury inside and design flair you'd expect from Aston, this is a car that truly does it all.
There is plenty of smart kit onboard meaning this can offer adaptive cruise and lane assist for easy motorway driving, but also cameras and sensors for handling this large car in more compact city spaces.
There are two trim options to pick from: the 550 and 707, both of which feature a 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 engine (from Mercedes AMG M177) but on the first is a 550 BHP version while the second pushes out 707 BHP, as the names suggest.
The Aston Martin DBX offers lots of smart kit as standard including a 10-inch infotainment display and Apple CarPlay. Plus you get lots of smart safety features like adaptive cruise control, auto braking and lane departure assist.
Aston Martin DBX not for you? We've got 1000s of used cars for sale to suit all budgets and needs.
The Aston Martin DBX comes with the same 4.0-litre petrol engine in both trims – although the Chinese model has a 3.0-litre engine. In either case you can expect automatic gearing and four-wheel plus all-wheel drive as standard on this front-engine SUV.
The 550 variant comes with an engine tuned to kick out 550 BHP which is delivered intelligently to all four wheels via the 9-speed 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox. All that should equate to a 0-62 MPH time of 4.5 seconds for a top speed of 181 MPH.
Move up to the more finely tuned 707 variant and that 4.0-litre V8 kicks out an impressive 707 BHP through those 32 valves. That should mean a 0-62 MPH time of just 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 193 MPH.

As you might expect, the DBX is in the higher category for road tax where both model variants fall into band M. That means an annual road tax price of £570 with a first year rate of a massive £2,605.
The Aston Martin DBX may not even be insured by all companies so you may be best served going to a specialist. Expect the pricing to be over £2,000 per year, but this will vary from insurer to insurer.
