Hot on the heels of the new M5 Saloon, details and prices for the brand new BMW M5 Touring have been announced.
Like its smaller-booted stablemate, the new 2025 BMW M5 Touring has huge amounts of horsepower from its plug-in hybrid powertrain, but with added practicality. It's on sale now with prices starting at £112,500.
The M5 Touring shares the electrication of the Saloon, with a 200PS electric motor attached to a 4.4-litre V8 engine that sends power to all four wheels.
There are numerous upgrades over the standard 5 Series, with beefed up suspension, brakes and steering and an interior full of features included as standard.
Rivals include the Audi RS 6 Avant and its forthcoming replacement, the RS 7 Avant, as well as the Mercedes-AMG E53 Estate.

The new BMW M5 Touring costs £112,500, which is £2000 more than the Saloon. Orders are open now, with deliveries due to start in early 2025.
New 2024 BMW M5 Touring: interior and exterior
The exterior of the new BMW M5 Touring is almost exactly the same as the Saloon, save for the extended roofline to accomodate the large boot. If you imagine a standard BMW 5 Series Touring but enhance the looks with a 75mm wider body and lower suspension, you're most of the way there.
Black chrome-trimmed tailpipes sit at either side of the rear end, with electrically controlled flaps to hone the sound from the V8 engine.
Inside, you get the standard (excellent) 5 Series cabin with numerous features and upgrades for the M model. BMW’s Curved Display infotainment setup is standard, as is a head-up display to project information onto the windscreen.
Electrically adjusted heated sports seats are standard in the front, and a panoramic sunroof as well as four-zone climate control system are included, too. If you get bored of the exhaust note, a Bowers & Wilkins sound system is thrown in as well.
The headline feature is the large boot, which has up to 1630 litres of capacity if you fold down the back seats, or 500 litres if you leave them up. An automatic, electric boot lid is included as standard.

The new BMW M5 Touring hugely powerful, with its 4.4-litre V8 and electric motor combining to develop a 727PS and 1000Nm of torque. That translates to a 0-62mph time of 3.6 seconds – 0.1 seconds slower than the Saloon. As a plug-in hybrid, the M5 Touring can drive on electric power alone for up to 42 miles.
It uses an eight-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to all four wheels. However, the driver can decide to send power solely to the rear wheels for a more traditional sportscar feel. The sophisticated setup features rear-wheel steering for enhanced handling, with the rear wheels capable of moving by up to 1.5 degrees.
