2024 Kia Sorento

The new Kia Sorento is now open for ordering in the UK with prices for the large seven-seater SUV starting from £41,995 – more than £3000 less than the outgoing car.

The new Kia Sorento has a distinctive new appearance as well, with vertical LED headlights and a gloss black grille giving it a futuristic look similar to the award-winning new Kia EV9.

The new Kia Sorento will be available with diesel, petrol hybrid and plug-in hybrid engines, and all versions will have seven seats as standard.

The new Kia Sorento is a premium update for a model that, across several generations, has been on sale for 21 years and is an integral part of the firm’s premium model line-up.

The new Kia Sorento will provide a renewed challenge to other large seven-seat SUVs such as the Hyundai Santa Fe, Skoda Kodiaq, Land Rover Discovery and Mercedes-Benz GLB.

How much is the new Kia Sorento?

The new Kia Sorento costs from £41,995, in 2.2 CRDi diesel-powered ‘2’ guise. Like all new Kia Sorento, it has an automatic gearbox and grippy all-wheel drive as standard.

The new Kia Sorento 1.6-litre turbo hybrid (HEV) costs from £42,995 – just £1000 more than the diesel – while the new Kia Sorento plug-in hybrid (PHEV) costs from £47,295.

All engines are offered in all variants. The mid-spec ‘3’ range costs from £46,195 and top-spec ‘4’ costs from £50,695, both in diesel guise. The premiums for HEV and PHEV are the same.

Inside, the new Kia Sorento comes with an updated interior that is available with dual curved 12.3-inch displays, ambient lighting and a head-up display. It is also available with clever fingerprint recognition to boost security.

The new Kia Sorento is available with a Mineral Blue paint colour as standard. There are five premium colours, costing £675, including White Pearl, Midnight Black and Interstellar Grey, plus Cityscape Green that was previously only offered on the Kia Niro, and an all-new Volcanic Sand colour.

The new Kia Sorento has plenty of onboard tech and a better level of standard equipment than ever before.

How well-equipped is the new Kia Sorento?

The new Kia Sorento has an enhanced standard specification that means it is better equipped than ever before.

All new Kia Sorento have a 12.3-inch touchscreen navigation display with over-the-air updates, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a free seven-year subscription to Kia Connect online series.

There are six USB-C charge ports – two for each row of seats – plus heated front seats and a heated artificial leather steering wheel. A reversing camera is standard, as are front and rear parking sensors.

On the outside, there are LED daytime running lights, plus LED front and rear foglights, and both headlights and rear lights.

The new Kia Sorento ‘2’ has 17-inch wheels, which are upgraded to 19-inches for the PHEV and for Sorento ‘3’ grade. The new Kia Sorento ‘4’ has unique 19-inch alloys for the HEV and PHEV, and big 20-inch wheels for the diesel.

Extra goodies for the new Kia Sorento ‘3’ include black leather upholstery, Bose premium sound system, rear self-levelling suspension and a 12.3-inch driver display within the dual curved display setup.

The new Kia Sorento ‘4’ has features including panoramic sunroof, super-soft black nappa leather with ventilated front seats, an electronic rear view mirror and, for a Range Rover-like luxury touch, premium ‘relaxation’ front seats.

The new Kia Sorento is not pure electric – choose from HEV, PHEV or regular diesel. Kia does have a seven-seat large SUV EV though – the Kia EV9.

Like all new Kias, the Sorento has a seven-year, 100,000-mile warranty.

Prices for the new Kia Sorento are lower than before – the range starts from £41,995, which is £3030 less than the current entry-level model.
