The compact and practical Nissan NV200 has been a big hit with people looking for a van that's agile enough to get in and out of town, still prove comfortable on longer runs, but still features a generous cargo or people carrying capacity.
Although it's a small van, the Nissan NV200 has lots of space, with a cargo area that is 1.22m wide and 2.04m long, meaning that it's more than capable of carrying a wide variety of payloads. It has also been designed with versatility in mind, including a best-in-class loading height, with model variants that allow quick and easy adjustment of the interior layout thereby allowing for more awkward loads to be carried.
While the Nissan NV200's interior could be best described as utilitarian, used examples do come with all the basics. Plus, there are lots of handy cubby holes that allow for additional storage, which makes it ideally suited to tradesfolk.
Nissan has always kept the powertrain options simple for the NV200 van too, with both diesel and electric options proving popular. The lack of choice in the NV200 range makes picking which model to go for relatively simple. There is only the one body style for the panel van, while for most of its life there was only a 1.5-litre diesel with 90PS. Given the choice, the 110PS is nippier and a better all-round option.
The entry-level trim, Visia, is relatively sparse, with air conditioning not coming until the top-level Tekna model. The gap between the different models is not huge price wise, and this will have narrowed on the second-hand market. If you can find a Tekna model at a price that makes sense then this would be the version to get – it also adds a reversing camera, satellite navigation and air conditioning.
The Nissan NV200 comes in two different powertrain editions, with increasingly the e-NV200 looking more appealing over its diesel counterpart thanks to an undeniably practical 124 miles of range on more recent models.
Considering the Nissan NV200 was essentially designed for commercial use, and its two-seater straightforward panel van edition underlines that, you can also get used examples with up to seven seats.

If you're looking for a used Nissan NV200 the good news is that there's very little difference between the different panel van versions. The basic model sits in group 5E while the range-topper lands in 6E. The crew van and the combi are both more expensive to insure, sitting in groups 10E or 11E. This is the case regardless of whether you go for the five-seat version or the seven-seater.
