New 2024 MINI Aceman: Price, specs and release date

Written By Richard Aucock

MINI Aceman 2024

The new MINI Aceman has been fully revealed  as a small crossover alternative to the upcoming new MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper Electric.

Effectively replacing the MINI Clubman, and positioned below the new MINI Countryman, the new MINI Aceman is the world’s first MINI only to be sold purely as an electric car.

The new MINI Aceman will take on other premium small SUV EVs such as the new Volvo EX30 and Smart #1, plus the Jeep Avenger.

It will also challenge the Vauxhall Mokka Electric, Peugeot e-2008 and DS 3 E-Tense, plus the new Hyundai Kona Electric and Kia Niro EV. The upcoming Ford Puma in new electric Gen-E guise will provide further competition from 2025.

New 2024 MINI Aceman: price and release date

The new MINI Aceman has been revealed at the Beijing Motor Show. It will launch in two power outputs, E and SE, and three trim levels, called Classic, Exclusive and Sport.

New MINI Aceman E prices start from £31,800, with new MINI Aceman SE prices starting from £36,300.

First UK deliveries of the new MINI Aceman will begin in November 2024.

Excitingly, while the new MINI Aceman will initially be built in China, production will start here in the UK at the firm’s Oxford plant from 2026. This will help further enhance the British appeal of the new MINI Aceman crossover EV.

New 2024 MINI Aceman: exterior and interior

The new MINI Aceman will “bridge the space between the new MINI Cooper Electric and MINI Countryman in the model family’s future,” says head of MINI Stefanie Wurst. It measures 4070mm long, meaning it will be shorter than a Volvo EX30 on the outside – but just as spacious inside.

The designers say it “heralds the beginning of a new design era for MINI,” with a cleaner and more paired-back look. It has an "independent design language, is compact and looks agile," says head of MINI design Oliver Heilmer.

"With its distinctive expression, it is the perfect everyday companion for those who value individuality in urban areas."

At the front of the new MINI Aceman is a large, upright grille, which has an illuminated surround. The centre of the grille is completely closed, to boost aero efficiency. The headlights are also more contoured, in contrast to the traditional round MINI headlights.

The new MINI Aceman has flat, geometric wheel arches, emphasising its crossover credentials. The rear section has distinctive contour lines that give the compact MINI Aceman a powerful appearance. The rear design helps emphasise the width of the new MINI Aceman.

Expect a broad range of bright, fun colours for the new MINI Aceman, including the Rebel Red seen here. Sunset Indigo Blue will be another colour exclusive to the new MINI Aceman.

Inside, the new MINI Aceman will use responsible materials “with absolutely no leather or chrome elements”. This will further enhance the minimalist design that reduces the cabin to the bare essentials.

The centrepiece of the new MINI Aceman is a central circular 24cm OLED display. This world-first technology extends across the entire surface of the display, and features an all-new MINI Operating system. Uniquely, images extend across the entire dashboard, thanks to moving image projections.

The new MINI Aceman’s dashboard architecture features wide open, gently-curved surfaces, giving a spacious feel. Surfaces are covered in soft knitted textile materials for a homely, welcoming ambience.

Switches are reduced to a single strip of toggles, controlling the electronic handbrake, gear selector, drive modes and audio volume. Everything else is controlled through the touchscreen.

New 2024 MINI Aceman: electric motor and batteries

The new MINI Aceman is based on the same platform as the new MINI Cooper Electric. There will be two versions, called Aceman E and Aceman SE, both driving the front wheels for maximum efficiency.

The new MINI Aceman E will use a 40kWh battery, which will give an EV range of 192 miles. It will be paired with a 184PS electric motor, for 0-62mph performance in 7.9 seconds.

The new MINI Aceman SE will have a larger 54.2kWh battery, giving a potential range of 252 miles. It will have a more powerful 218PS electric motor, giving 0-62mph performance in 7.1 seconds. This will make it feel likely and fun.

An even faster new MINI Aceman JCW version should follow later.

Using the same platform as the new MINI Cooper Electric means the new MINI Aceman will have fun handling. Expect go-kart-like handling with responsive steering and plenty of grip.

The extra suspension clearance of the new MINI Aceman will serve up a smoother ride than the regular hatch. This means it should be more comfortable in town, particularly on rough roads. MINI is not billing it as an off-roader though, and all-wheel drive will not be available.

The new MINI Aceman effectively replaces the MINI Clubman small family four-door. The latest model remains a tempting proposition, with 2019 and 2020 MINI Clubman Cooper models available to buy used from around £15,000. We also like the powerful MINI Clubman Cooper S, which delivers plenty of punch from its 2.0-litre turbo engine. You can even get an ALL4 version with all-wheel drive.

An exciting new van coming in 2024 is the all-new Volkswagen Transporter, which is sure to excite fans of the long-running Volkswagen commercial vehicle. Meanwhile, luxury electric car fans will be pleased to hear the new Range Rover Electric arrives later this year. The new Renault 5 electric will be revealed ahead of that, and there's also a new Suzuki Swift on the way. Or for something completely different, what about the new Tesla Cybertruck

The new MINI Aceman is a compact crossover SUV. It is based on the new MINI Cooper Electric and will sit between the famous small car and the larger MINI Countryman SUV.

The new MINI Aceman will only be sold as an EV – the first ever MINI to only be offered as an electric car.

The new MINI Aceman is supermini-sized, measuring around four metres long. This is notably more compact than similarly-priced electric rivals such as the Volvo EX30 and Jeep Avenger.
