2024 Kia EV6

The new Kia EV6 is a sleek-looking facelifted version of the firm’s popular premium crossover that has more tech and an even longer range.

Revealed in Korea ahead of its official European debut, the new Kia EV6 aims to build on the strengths of the current model with useful enhancements for styling, interior comfort and range.

There’s new onboard software and the new Kia EV6 is available with a larger battery too, which will improve its EV range yet further.

As with today’s model, the new Kia EV6 will go up against rivals including the Ford Mustang Mach-e, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Genesis GV60, Volkswagen ID.4, Skoda Enyaq iV, Audi Q4 e-tron and more.

What are the styling tweaks on the new Kia EV6?

The new Kia EV6 has an all-new front-end design with a ‘Star Map LED lighting signature that mirrors the award-winning Kia EV9, which is the UK Car of the Year 2024. The headlights blend into a sharper-looking front bumper to give a sportier, more distinctive appearance.

The new Kia EV6 has larger alloy wheels, up to 20-inches, and a choice of colours that include several matte finishes – like the pretty Yacht Matt Blue seen here on the Kia EV6 GT-Line version.

At the rear, the new Kia EV6 has enhanced lights again featuring Star Map lighting tech. There are bolder colour contrasts between body colour and styling features, again giving it a more eye-catching look.

Inside, the new Kia EV6 has a fresh steering wheel design and updated interior trim that have a more upmarket look and feel. Details have also been improved – the wireless smartphone charging pad, for example, has a better design to stop phones from sliding around.

There are four interior colour choices – Medium Grey, Green and Light Grey, Toffee Brown and exclusive Black and White for GT-Line versions.

The new Kia EV6 has an all-new infotainment system too. This now has the ability to receive over-the-air software updates, so it can be kept permanently up-to-date with the latest features. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as is a fingerprint authentication system and a more secure Kia Digital Key 2.

What is the range of the new Kia EV6?

The new Kia EV6 has a larger 84kWh ‘fourth generation’ battery. This is up from the 77.4kWh of the current model. According to official Korean figures, the range has improved by 4%. This indicates it may have a range of more than 340 miles – UK figures will be confirmed nearer to launch.

The new Kia EV6 will still offer 350kW ultra-fast DC rapid charging. Kia says that for the same time charging, the new battery will add more range than today’s car.

The new Kia EV6 remains available in either single-motor rear-wheel-drive guise, or an all-wheel drive version with two electric motors.

The new Kia EV6 will be more refined, too. There are upgraded suspension dampers that give a smoother ride on rough roads, and more sound insulation at the rear that reduces the noise of the electric motor.

Other new features include second-row side airbags, an electrically-adjustable steering wheel, a 12.0-inch head-up display and a digital rear-view mirror.

The new Kia EV6’s already impressive security has been enhanced further with an ingenious fingerprint authentication system. It also has a ‘walk away lock’ feature that automatically locks the doors when the driver exits with the key.
